As part of Camp Michigamme’s strategic planning process, we are seeking honest feedback from people who know Camp Michigamme best. The closure of Camp Michigamme for 2026 was heartbreaking, but it also creates an opportunity for a fresh start and thoughtful planning for the camp’s future. By learning from both the successes and challenges of Camp Michigamme’s first century of service, we hope to identify what should be preserved, what should be improved, and how to build a sustainable future for the camp.

Our goal is to obtain a broad perspective, and to do so we need to hear from many different people who can represent a wide range of experiences at camp. Honest feedback is essential in this process.
If you meet one of the following criteria, we warmly invite you to participate in a confidential survey:

Served as a volunteer, employee, or adult program participant (such as Quilt Retreat) at Camp Michigamme for at least one week per year in three or more years between 2010 and 2025 (years do not need to be consecutive); or
Served on the Camp Michigamme Board for at least two years between 2010 and 2025.

To protect confidentiality and ensure each person participates only once, survey links are distributed individually and may be used only one time.

Your experiences, insights, and ideas are an important part of the strategic planning process. We hope you will take a few minutes to share them and help shape its future.

We are excited to announce the development of a video that will focus on what Camp Michigamme means to YOU! If you would be willing to come to camp and be interviewed, we would be so happy to include your voice and perspective.

Whether you experienced camp last year or 50 years ago; if you were a camper, counselor, staff member, volunteer, church leader, friend, or supporter of camp – we’d love to hear your story. We want to reflect the full range of Camp Michigamme’s history and impact across generations.

If being behind the camera is more your style, we’re glad to have your help in that area! We are pleased to have a video editor lined up already, so once the video clips are recorded, we’ll be ready to send them to production.

Hello, Camp Michigamme friends!

We're so grateful for the support of Central United Methodist Church and Algonquin United Methodist Church, who are providing funding to address several much-needed maintenance projects at Sault Ste. Marie Cabin.

Some of this work will require a licensed electrician who can pull permits and either volunteer their time or provide services at a reduced cost. If you are a licensed electrician, or know someone who might be willing to support Camp Michigamme in this way, we'd love to hear from you. While we are not certain all work will be completed this year, being able to determine if we have an electrician available, and in what capacity, will help us plan for the work to be done.

We are delighted and inspired by the assistance our Camp Michigamme community has offered thus far, and, as we have often sung around the campfire, pray that you will continue to Pass It On!

Hello friends! We're still looking for a few more volunteers to help make phone calls to churches and to groups who might be interested in renting Camp Michigamme in the future. We'll give you all the information about what to say and what questions to ask, we just need people willing to put in the time to make calls!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our brainstorming session! Your creativity, enthusiasm, and commitment to the camp are fueling us as we continue our work.

We will soon begin reaching out to organizations that may be interested in renting the camp during unused days, weeks and weekends. Expanding rentals is one of several ways we hope to increase revenue and build a sustainable future for Camp Michigamme. We need your help!

Do you know a group that might be interested in using Camp Michigamme?
Churches, youth groups, schools, retreat organizations, nonprofits, scouting groups, outdoor education programs, and other community organizations may be a good fit. If you have a connection with someone who may potentially be interested, please contact us. A personal introduction can go a long way!

Do you have a connection with a camp that has had success growing their programming or renting to other groups? We would love to reach out to them to gather ideas!

We are assembling a team of volunteers who can assist with making phone calls and gathering information. If you would like to be part of this effort, we would love to hear from you.
Every new connection helps us move one step closer to a financially sustainable future for Camp Michigamme.

We are so grateful to Negaunee Mitchell for inviting us to speak at their church service today. It was wonderful to connect with Camp Michigamme supporters in person and share an update of the work being done by the Worship, Work and Play Team. Our team members are located across the Upper Peninsula, northern Wisconsin, and northern Lower Michigan, and we would love to visit as many churches as we can this summer. Hello all! The Camp Michigamme riding lawn mower is not currently working (troubleshooting so far suggests either a starter or solenoid). Is there anyone out there who has the skill set to help us diagnose and fix this, and who might be available this weekend? Our insurance company requires that we keep the lawns mowed, so we're hoping to get this straightened out soon!
