Horses and Hounds Rescue & Humane Society A horse and dog rescue group with a humane approach to rehabilitating less fortunate animals and rehoming them with loving forever homes.

We have been around awhile but have just joined Facebook. We are a 501(c)3 group located in McNairy County Tennessee. We rescue horses and dogs who are in need of love and rehab so that they can find their forever homes with loving families. We have 30 acres with a barn and kennel and would love to save them all but don't have a way to do that. So for the time being we will save as many as we can.

Chyanne working one of the recent rescues. Sierra is a 5 year old mare, we have no idea of her background before we found her in a feedlot. She is so sweet and I am so glad we were able to bring her home....Keep your eye out for updates as she continues to blossom.

Oh my gosh It was so sad last night I went to an auction just to get ideas on what was going on in that world. I was sad and very sad to see that there were several horses that were skinny and malnourished, that went and sold for anywhere from $80.00 to $300.00. I wish I had actually gone with some money because I would have added at least 4 new horses to the rescue group. I guess I need to attend more because it was similar to what I saw in florida One to two people who bought all of the malnourished horses. I hope and pray that they were not dealers (meat). I have found since moving up here that there are a lot of them. so I will be trying to keep an eye on bidders and figure out which ones are dealers and if at all possible raise the bids so that they work for it or don't win at all. I hate that they think they can get cheap thin horses take them to feed lots and then send them to slaughter. I wish I could afford to save them all but I know I cant I will just have to settle for the ones that I can....

Just rescued 4 new horses from a meat packers, in need of love and care. There are two pretty skinny ones who will need there teeth floated, they are all in need of having thier feet done. One has a serious wound on her leg, and seems to have damage to her eye ( blind ). Another has a growth or cut on her eye lid. We have had them all vetted and have made treatment plans for thier future. Pics to come soon.
