Meet Rosie, a 1-year old female blue merle miniature schnauzer, born 4/29/25. Rosie is very active and playful, and would do best in a home with other dogs her size that also love to play. She is about 9 lbs, and is a total lapdog! Always ready to snuggle when she’s not playing with her foster siblings.
Rosie does great on a leash, and is always very curious about meeting other people and dogs on our walks. She has learned to sit and stay and LOVES toys, her favorites being crinkle toys and soft frisbees; she also has learned to fetch with mini tennis balls! New and engaging toys have been great for Rosie, since she is a busy little girl!
She is housebroken although still learning the best way to notify us when she needs to go out. Currently she is learning to jingle the bells we have hung on the back door. She also has learned to use a dog door and loves being outside. She often gets a little excited when her people come home and has had little accidents, so a fenced in yard is a must so she can relieve herself quickly. She is mischievous sometimes in the yard with digging and eating bits of grass, so she will need parental supervision to make sure she doesn’t eat anything she’s not supposed to!
Rosie sleeps in our human bed throughout the night without issue, and she is allowed to roam free when we are out; however we typically limit that to 4-5 hours, which is not difficult since we work from home. Someone who is home more often than not and has plans to incorporate their dog into their daily life is what we are looking for – Rosie spent a lot of time alone and in a crate before she came to us, and she has completely changed and thrived in this new environment.
She is great with other dogs as mentioned, although due to her size the smaller the better. She is also good around kids, having lived with a toddler before, and has met a few children with us (ages 4-8). She has not been tested with cats. She’s very curious and engaging, but can be jumpy around new people and in new situations – it’s best to take things slowly with Rosie, letting her become comfortable at home before introducing her to every acquaintance (which you will likely want to do, since she is clearly a gorgeous girl!).
If you think you might be the right family and home for Rosie, she is being fostered in Columbus, OH. She is spayed, utd on vaccines, microchipped, and current on prevention. Rosie does not have any health issues, handles grooming well, and is great during car rides.
