❤️🐾 MEET GUNNER…
Sometimes a dog comes into rescue and you think, okay, we can fix this. And then one thing leads to another, and before you know it, you’re looking at this sweet little face wondering how one little dog has already been through so much.
This is Gunner💔
Gunner found his way to Schnauzer Rescue Cincinnati when his owner was no longer able to care for him. From the moment he arrived, it was clear this sweet 4-year-old boy had some significant medical needs that needed to be addressed.
Gunner’s teeth were in terrible condition, requiring surgery and the removal of more than 20 teeth. He also had a very large mass on his back that needed to be removed. Once the veterinarian began surgery, they discovered the mass was much larger beneath the skin than originally expected, requiring a much larger incision.
As if that wasn’t enough for this little guy, Gunner also had a severe reaction to his vaccines and had to be rushed back to the veterinarian for treatment. 🥺
Then came the news we were hoping we wouldn’t hear. 💔 Gunner’s biopsy came back as a cutaneous mast cell tumor — cancer.
Our next step is to give Gunner the best chance possible. This Thursday, he will undergo another procedure to remove additional tissue around the area and make sure we have clean margins.
All of this comes at a significant cost to the rescue. Between his dental surgery, mass removal, biopsy, emergency treatment following his vaccine reaction, upcoming procedure, medications and continued veterinary care, Gunner’s medical expenses are adding up quickly.
🙏 And this is where we need your help.
❤️ At only 4 years old, Gunner deserves the chance to put all of this behind him and have many happy years!
Together, we can give Gunner the life he has always deserved.❤️
