Mihši neewe ‘thank you so much’ to everyone who came out yesterday for our inaugural Myaamia Cultural Fest! 🎉

We are so grateful to everyone who helped make the day such a success—from our artists, staff, volunteers, and partners to the 2,000+ visitors who stopped by to learn, create, shop, play games, and celebrate Myaamia culture with us.

A special neewe ‘thank you’ to the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma Cultural Resources Office and our partners at Arts United Taste of the Arts Fort Wayne for helping make this day possible.

Come celebrate Myaamia culture, art, history, language, foodways, and community with us! Explore artist booths, watch cultural demonstrations, participate in hands-on activities, learn about Myaamia traditions, and enjoy a day of fun for the whole family.

And while you’re downtown, swing by the Taste of the Arts Festival on Main Street! With both festivals happening just a short walk from each other, you can experience two incredible celebrations in one downtown Fort Wayne visit.

Mihši neewe ‘thank you so much’ Arts United for your support! Your partnership is helping us bring Myaamia culture, history, language, art, and foodways to downtown Fort Wayne.

This Saturday will be a day filled with art and fun for the whole family!

Myaamia Cultural Fest, 10am-4pm, corner of Berry and Barr Streets

Taste of the Arts, 11am-5pm, Arts Campus Fort Wayne

In this week’s segment of IN the Arts, 21Alive’s Heather Herron chats with the Myaamia Heritage Foundation’s Morgan Lippert about Myaamia Cultural Fest.

The festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on August 29, at the corner of Barr and Berry streets in downtown Fort Wayne alongside Taste of the Arts Festival 2026.

For several weeks, we’ve been sharing stories from Myaamia artists. From beading and lacrosse stick making to basketry and fingerweaving, our artists have shared about the revitalization of Myaamia art and what it means to be part of the inaugural Myaamia Cultural Fest.

Join us this Saturday, August 29, to meet our artists, learn about their work and traditions, and see Myaamia art and cultural practices come to life!
