to a morning when creativity made a difference! 🎨✨

Last Tuesday, art became a shared experience at Empório B Gallery, where CCBU had the pleasure of supporting a special workshop led by Brazilian artist Priscila Schott in partnership with IPTI US.

The event brought together artistic expression, learning, and a meaningful cause. From an inspiring introduction by CCBU Board Member Liana Rivas to the hands-on experience guided by Priscila, every moment encouraged participants to explore their imagination and discover the joy of creating something of their own.

We were especially delighted to have CCBU Vice President Gabi Cheli and Board Members Viviane Spinelli and Liana Rivas present, reinforcing our commitment to initiatives that celebrate Brazilian artists while generating a positive impact beyond the arts.

Our thanks to Priscila Schott, IPTI US, and everyone who made this experience possible. Moments like these remind us why investing in culture means investing in people, opportunities, and the future of our community. 💚💛

Living abroad can change the way we understand where we come from. For CCBU Board Member Flávia Murta, that experience has become an opportunity to reflect on identity, belonging, and the importance of keeping our roots present across borders. 🇧🇷✨

After nine years outside Brazil, Flávia has learned that embracing a new country and preserving your own heritage can go hand in hand. That perspective is also present in her community involvement and in the creation of P**A Broward, connecting families with Portuguese, bilingualism, and Brazilian traditions.

Her voice on CCBU’s Board adds an important perspective to our work: one shaped by the experience of building a life abroad while understanding how much language and culture matter to future generations.

Because carrying Brazil with us is not only about remembering where we came from, it is also about creating meaningful ways for our culture to continue forward. 💚💛

Cinema becomes even more powerful when the conversation continues beyond the screen. 🎬✨

CCBU is pleased to recommend PROTAGONISTA, a special evening presented by CULTURALISTA + INFFINITO featuring acclaimed Brazilian filmmaker Carla Camurati, director of Raízes do Sagrado Feminino, winner of Best Documentary at the 30th Inffinito Brazilian Film Festival.

More than a screening, this experience invites audiences to reflect on the roots that continue to influence and shape women’s roles in society.

Following the film, Carla Camurati will join the audience for a conversation, creating a meaningful space for dialogue, new perspectives, and connection.

Education, community engagement, and cultural identity come together in the work of CCBU Board Member Flávia Murta. 🇧🇷✨

With a strong commitment to volunteerism and lifelong learning, Flávia brings to the Board valuable experience in mobilizing families and creating initiatives centered on language, education, and Brazilian heritage. Having lived outside Brazil for nine years, she also brings the perspective of someone deeply engaged in keeping cultural connections meaningful for Brazilians abroad.

As the founder of P**A Broward, established in 2024 to promote Portuguese as a heritage language, bilingualism, and Brazilian culture, Flávia strengthens CCBU’s Board with her hands-on community experience and dedication to education. Her contribution supports CCBU’s mission to expand the presence of Portuguese and Brazilian culture while building stronger connections throughout South Florida.

What if, for one morning, you became the artist? 🎨✨

CCBU invites you to a hands-on creative experience with Brazilian artist Priscila Schott, where inspiration moves beyond observation and becomes something you can shape with your own hands.

Based in Miami, Priscila has developed a distinctive artistic language in which geometry, color, movement, and play come together across sculpture, painting, and installation. Rooted in Brazil’s constructivist tradition and influenced by her background in technology, her work transforms simple forms into dynamic compositions that invite interaction and imagination. Her work has been presented across South Florida and at major cultural events including Pinta Miami and Miami Art Week.

Now it’s your turn to create alongside her! Spend the morning exploring the sculptural process, make your own piece to take home, and be part of an experience with an even greater purpose: each creation supports and its work with Brazilian communities.

Education, language, and cultural heritage are essential to keeping Brazilian identity alive across generations. 🇧🇷📚

CCBU Board Member Indra Rizzato brings this purpose to her community involvement in South Florida. Originally from Manacapuru, Amazonas, she holds a degree in Advertising and an MBA in Marketing and has called the United States home since 2001. Her commitment to Portuguese-language education includes serving as President of P**A at Ada Merritt K-8 Center, where she remains part of the Board.

Joining CCBU’s Board in 2026, Indra now lends her background and dedication to educational and communications initiatives, helping broaden access to the Portuguese language while celebrating Brazil’s rich heritage across South Florida.

Last week, CCBU had the pleasure of joining a meaningful gathering that brought our community together around something we all share: the connection to Brazil that remains strong no matter how far from home we may be.

Surrounded by familiar faces and a spirit of togetherness, the occasion was a beautiful reminder of how our heritage continues to create bonds, inspire belonging, and strengthen the Brazilian presence in South Florida.

We are grateful to Ambassador Marco Farani and the Consulate General of Brazil in Miami for the invitation and for creating this memorable moment for our community.

On September 29, CCBU proudly supports a special event hosted by IPTI_US featuring Brazilian contemporary artist Priscila Schott. In this immersive, hands-on experience, guests will create their own sculpture to take home while exploring Brazilian contemporary art and supporting a meaningful cause that empowers Brazilian communities.

A Celebration of Independence

September 7 marks the day Brazil declared its independence in 1822, becoming a sovereign nation with the freedom to shape its own path. More than two centuries later, this date remains a celebration of our country, its identity, and the Brazil we carry with us wherever life takes us.

For Brazilians living in Florida, our connection to Brazil lives through our language, music, art, traditions, stories, and the memories we pass from one generation to the next. Distance may change the landscape around us, but it never has to diminish the culture that brings us together.

At CCBU, we are proud to keep that connection alive by supporting Brazilian culture throughout Florida and creating spaces where our heritage can be experienced, shared, and celebrated.

This Brazilian Independence Day, we celebrate Brazil with pride, affection, and a deep appreciation for the culture that continues to unite us across borders.
