Art has the power to connect cultures, shape perspectives, and bring Brazilian creativity to new audiences. 🎨🌎

CCBU Board Member Liana Rivas brings more than two decades of experience in the international art world, with a career spanning galleries, art fairs, private collections, and cultural initiatives. Her background includes leadership roles at Latin Collector Miami, Pinta Miami, BAphoto, and PArC, as well as experience with Art Basel Miami Beach and Art Miami.

Today, through Laroche Rivas Contemporary Art and her work with private collectors, Liana continues to foster meaningful connections between artists, collectors, and communities. At CCBU, she contributes her expertise and curatorial perspective to advancing the visibility of Brazilian art and culture throughout South Florida.

CCBU was honored to meet with Ambassador Marco Farani, Consul General of Brazil in Miami, and Deputy Consul General Gláucio Veloso for a productive and inspiring conversation about the future of our Brazilian community.

Representing CCBU were President Floriana Martinez and Board Members Valeria Sorrentino and Gabriela Eckersdorff, who discussed meaningful opportunities for collaboration and explored initiatives to be launched later this year and carried through 2027. The meeting reaffirmed our shared commitment to advancing Brazilian culture, expanding educational opportunities, and strengthening connections within our community.

When institutions come together with a common purpose, ideas become opportunities, partnerships create impact, and lasting legacies are built. We look forward to the work ahead and to continuing our mission of serving and empowering the Brazilian community.

What started as a Portuguese language program has become a celebration of heritage, creativity, and connection. 🇧🇷✨

For 30 years, the Brazilian Club at Miami Beach Senior High School has brought Brazil’s traditions to life through music, dance, and cultural experiences that unite the school community.

This year’s Carnival celebration was proudly supported by the Centro Cultural Brasil-USA da Flórida (CCBU), whose sponsorship helped bring the event to life and reinforced its commitment to promoting Brazilian language and culture across South Florida.

From the annual Carnival celebration to student-led projects, the program shows that learning Portuguese is about discovering the stories, rhythms, and traditions that connect Brazil and Miami.

CCBU Celebrates Ada Merritt's Bilingual Legacy 🇧🇷🌎

As the first post in our Portuguese as a Cultural Bridge series, we are proud to spotlight Ada Merritt K-8 Center, home to Florida's first Portuguese-English bilingual program for elementary and middle school students. Since 2004, this pioneering initiative has inspired generations of learners through language, culture, and academic excellence.

As a proud partner, CCBU supports the program by recognizing graduating students and educators, while working closely with P**A Ada Merritt (Portuguese International Parent Association) to strengthen the program and promote meaningful cultural initiatives that engage the entire school community.

Music is more than entertainment—it builds bridges, preserves heritage, and brings people together across generations and borders. 🎶🌎

CCBU Board Member has spent more than two decades creating opportunities for Brazilian artists to reach new audiences through broadcasting, live performances, and cultural initiatives. From producing acclaimed concerts and radio programming to leading WDNA 88.9 FM in Miami, his work has helped strengthen the visibility of Brazilian music throughout South Florida.

As a longtime advocate for cultural exchange, Gene proudly supports CCBU's mission of celebrating Brazil's artistic legacy and expanding access to Portuguese language and Brazilian culture through education, community engagement, and the arts.
