This Earth Day, weโ€™re looking back at a powerful example of community voice in action.

Through the UM Climate Resilience Workshop Series, in partnership with Miami-Dade County and the University of Miami, residents in Hialeah and Biscayne Gardens shared their experiences with flooding, heat, and unsafe streets, and worked together on ideas to strengthen their neighborhoods.

The photos and stories shared were not just reflections, they were real, everyday experiences.

One resident captured heavy rain flooding their yard, stopping just short of their home. A reminder of how close these challenges can hit.

Others shared solutions already taking shape.

From lagoon microforests with bald cypress trees that help capture stormwater and reduce heat, to creating green spaces at home that bring shade, reduce stress, and require little maintenance.

A single bald cypress can absorb up to 800 gallons of water a day. Multiply that, and small changes begin to scale.

When community members guide the conversation, solutions take root in ways that last.

This Earth Day, take a moment to look around your environment.

What is one change that could make your space stronger, cooler, or more connected? ๐ŸŒฑ

โ€œAs recently as yesterday.โ€
Thatโ€™s when this moment of pride happened.

In this clip, Nattaliah shares how a conversation with a new partner turned into something bigger a reminder that the work happening across UHP is not only being seen, but felt.

From the impact across Miami-Dade and Broward County to the everyday progress happening within our projects, itโ€™s moments like these that reinforce why this work matters and how many lives it can truly touch.

Weโ€™re proud to do this work together.

Living a healthier life is not just about individual choices.

There are real, everyday challenges that shape what is possible.

Jeff shares why understanding that matters.

At UHP, this is the reality that informs our work.
