Everyone has something to offer and everyone has things that they need.

The work of giving, receiving, and coordinating care for one another is what strengthens our communities, and builds our resilience to organize and win the resources people deserve to live healthy, full lives.

Through our Women’s Circle and Sisters in Struggle mutual aid program, members like Nadirah are developing their capacity to lead and care for their neighbors. When we come together, we see that none of us are alone, and our courage to fight for what’s right becomes greater than the fear that keeps us from a better life.

This Give Miami Day, we invite you to pour into the grassroots leaders who show up daily to make our communities safer and stronger, and inspire us to keep up the fight.

“It was here that I became a leader.”

Gloria first joined the Miami Workers Center 5 years ago, unaware of the rights she had on the job as a house cleaner. Since then, she’s educated herself and hundreds of other domestic workers in Miami about their right to safety and dignity as workers and tenants.

Through MWC’s organizing fellowships and training, Gloria has led campaigns, canvassing efforts, know your rights workshops, and this year she was elected by MWC membership body to represent them on our Board of Directors.

Gloria’s story and journey of leadership is a testament to the grassroots power we’re building at MWC.

TOMORROW LOOKS LIKE US!

We’re so grateful to have been able to come together, united in vision and solidarity, especially in these times. This event wouldn’t have been possible without the members of MWC and Power U, whose leadership and determination prove what’s possible when we come together. Thank you to our emcee, sponsors, honorees, and partners for making it all happen.

The energy was electric, from the beautiful fits to the powerful connections. We celebrated a night centered on our joy and our collective future.

More than a celebration of our two organizations– and –the night was about every person and organization across Miami working towards a Miami that works for all of us. Movement leaders of tomorrow need us to dream big, today.

That’s why we are fundraising to establish the Center for People Power—a permanent home for Miami’s grassroots movement.

The night may be over, but the call to action is still clear. Ready to build with us? Visit the link in our bio to support the Center for People Power!

Everyone deserves a safe place to call home — to host dinner with loved ones, connect with neighbors, and find some peace at the end of a long day.

Being a renter shouldn’t mean we should feel scared to speak up about concerns of our safety or repairs not being made — everyone, no matter your race, background, or income level, deserves to have their voices heard.

That is what we are fighting to preserve here in Miami, and why we are hosting a county-wide tenants assembly on September 6th.

We’re coming together to connect, get educated, and ORGANIZED! Are you with us?

How many families will become homeless or forced to move out of state as they wait for a voucher?

Continued privatization of housing has led us here. When we allow private corporations to dictate the cost and management of housing, CEOs become richer while our neighborhoods become out of control – leaving thousands of hard-working families without support or a place to call home.

It's time to put an end to the privatization that allows elected representatives to wipe their hands of accountability as they use our money to fund our own displacement.

Existing vouchers are fine, but the the wait times for new ones are getting even longer in Miami-Dade.

Rather than use our public resources to support Floridians like Kate, Homeland Security Secretary announced this week that they will be taking FEMA money to fund a detention camp in the Everglades.

https://www.everglades.org/no-alligator-alcatraz/

A cancer patient in Florida is homeless sleeping in parking lots after a hurricane destroyed her home and FEMA isn't helping her.

The US can fund wars in a second, but when it comes to public health, climate disasters, and homelessness, we're suddenly "broke."
