Big changes are coming to NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer. ⚽🇺🇸

Starting in 2027, the college season is expected to move to a two-semester format, aligning the game more closely with the international football calendar and creating a healthier environment for student-athletes.

Key changes include:

• Season split between Fall & Spring
• Up to 18 matches in the Fall and 10 in the Spring
• College Cup moving to the Spring
• Transfer portal reduced to a single 15-day window
• Greater focus on player development, recovery, academics, and long-term performance

This could become one of the most important structural changes in the history of college soccer in the United States. The impact on recruiting, player pathways, roster management, international opportunities, and athlete development will be massive.

For players, families, clubs, and coaches — the landscape is changing. The programs and athletes who adapt first will have a major advantage.
