Medical mission work has a way of putting everything into perspective 🤍

Hearing about Dr. Duider () and her trip with The Guerrero Clinic is a powerful reminder of what it means to use your skills beyond yourself, restoring sight, dignity, and independence where access to care is limited.

In just a few days, hundreds of cataract surgeries and hundreds of lives impacted. Work like this doesn’t happen alone, it exists because of dedicated teams, local partnerships, and places like Guerrero Clinic that make access to care possible where it’s needed most.

This is what purpose in medicine can look like

Loved these eye safety reminders from .peds.ophtho () 👀

It’s easy to overlook how certain toys and everyday items can affect the eyes, especially for kids. Things like lasers, glitter, aerosol sprays, sharp toys, and projectile games may seem harmless but can lead to serious injuries.

A good reminder that eye protection starts with awareness ✨

Celebrating a remarkable milestone in ophthalmology. 🇮🇳

Dr. Aarti Agrawal () was recognised by the India Book of Records after performing 60 cataract surgeries in 6 hours, completed by one woman surgeon.

A powerful achievement that reflects surgical precision, endurance, consistency, and years of dedication to restoring sight and transforming lives. 💖💪

A great evening at our recent Women in Eyecare Charlotte meeting 🌟

One of the most valuable parts of these gatherings is having open conversations with people who understand the realities of the industry, from leadership challenges and practice growth to career development and building strong teams.

Thank you to Mike Guelcher for sharing his perspective on leadership and team culture, and to Alcon for supporting the event.

Looking forward to continuing these conversations at the next WiE gathering.

Staying sharp today means staying curious.

What social media shows is polished, but the reality of medicine rarely is.

The mental load, the pressure, the moments of doubt… they’re part of the journey, even for the most experienced doctors.

That’s why having a space where honesty replaces perfection matters, where conversations go beyond the highlight reel and into what it actually feels like to do this work every day.

An important reminder by Dr. Kristie Lin. () 💫
