Zoe's Dolls

Zoe's Dolls Zoe’s Dolls is a nonprofit empowering girls through representation, self-esteem, and community service. Thus this was the start of Zoe's Dolls.
(1)

Founded by Zoe Terry, the organization distributes dolls of color and leads empowerment initiatives nationwide. Zoe's Dolls collect new, unwrapped dolls of color to donate to little girls at Christmas time. Zoe's Dolls was started by then 5 year old Zoe Terry for two reasons. When Zoe was smaller her mother would encourage her to give away one of her toys at Christmas. During that time Zoe was als

o being bullied at school because she looked different from everyone in her class. Zoe told her mother that she did not want to give away one of her toys anymore, she stated that she wanted to start a company called Zoe's Dolls. Zoe wanted little girls to know that their image is beautiful no matter what other people say. Zoe thought that a good way to do that was to give dolls to little girls that were reflective of their beautiful image! Zoe's Dolls is currently working on a line of dolls.

This is no April Fool’s.

Advocacy for Black women and girls is too often treated as a niche or political issue rather than than a comparable, urgent cause like cancer, homelessness, or environmental issues, resulting in systemic underfunding and erasure.

Meanwhile, research shows that less than 0.5% of global foundation funding is directed toward Black women and girls.

Let that sit.

While other issues receive widespread attention and investment, the voices, needs, and futures of Black women and girls continue to be underfunded, overlooked, and erased.

This is not a niche issue—
it’s an urgent crisis.

At Zoe’s Dolls, we are actively working to change that through programs that build confidence, leadership, and real opportunity for the next generation.

We don’t operate from scarcity.
We challenge it.

This Women’s History Month, Zoe’s Dolls is asking our community to show up for a school that is changing the lives of girls every single day.

Mother Caroline Academy is an all-girls school dedicated to empowering young women through education, leadership, and opportunity. When we invest in girls and support their educational journeys, we don’t just change individual lives — we transform families, communities, and the future.

On March 8, they are working to reach a powerful goal:
✨ 50 gifts in 24 hours.

Every contribution — big or small — helps ensure that girls have access to the education, mentorship, and opportunities they deserve.

Women’s History Month is about honoring the women who paved the way.
Today, we can also help fund the future of the next generation of women leaders.

💜 Let’s show up for girls.
💜 Let’s invest in their dreams.
💜 Let’s make history together.
• The countdown begins! We are just 5 days away from MCA’s Day of Giving happening on International Women’s Day, March 8th. We are looking to secure 50 gifts in 24 hours and we need YOUR help to make it happen! Mark your calendars for Sunday, or give your gift early in honor of a woman who has inspired you 💜

💐 Women’s History Month Spotlight: LaTasha Bratton 💐 Some women don’t need the spotlight.
They are the spotlight.

For Women’s History Month, we honor LaTasha Bratton — Zoe’s Godmother, her life coach, her steady compass, and the unseen backbone of Zoe’s Dolls.

From the very beginning, LaTasha has helped raise Zoe, pouring wisdom, discipline, love, and vision into her life. She has shaped speeches, sharpened strategy, and stood behind the curtain at hundreds of Zoe’s Dolls events, making sure every detail aligned with purpose. She is the linchpin. The calm. The wisdom in the room. The “What’s Next?” when everyone else is celebrating the win.

But her impact doesn’t stop with us.

In 2007, LaTasha founded What Next Global after spending six months in Zambia building youth programs and developing resources to help young people thrive. She didn’t just serve, she built. She created sustainable pathways for youth development and even opened a second-hand store run exclusively by young people to provide real employment opportunities and leadership experience.

Quiet impact. Global reach. Generational influence.

So much of what the world sees in Zoe: the poise, the preparation, the depth — has LaTasha’s fingerprints on it.

Women like LaTasha Bratton may not always stand at the podium, but they build the leaders who do.

This one is personal. This one is love.
And this one is legacy. 💛

Double Gala. Double Black Excellence. ✨🖤

On this last day of Black History, we had to pause and post these stunning moments of our CEO living her full college life.

Zoe stepped out for not one , but TWO — incredible nights:
💫 The Wellesley Black Excellence Gala
💫 Boston University’s Black Students Greenwood Gala

From celebrating legacy to honoring brilliance — oh what a night!

Black excellence isn’t just a moment… it’s a movement. And she’s walking in it. 👑

On this day yen years ago today, a 9-year-old girl took the TEDx stage to share her story.

Her talk : Turning Impossible into Possible — wasn’t just about dolls.

It was about overcoming bullying.
It was about surviving a stroke.
It was about choosing purpose over pain.

By then, Zoe’s Dolls had already been changing lives for four years. This moment wasn’t the beginning, it was the bold declaration of why the work mattered.

At nine, Zoe spoke about turning what tried to break her into something that could build others.

A decade later, that message still lives:
Impossible is just the starting point. Link to TED Talk in bio!

Oh what a memory! Throwback to the time our CEO did her first ever TED Talk at age 8 at The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. She was the last one to speak and 8 year old Zoe bought the house down! Speaking to an audience audience of over 350 people, we were so proud of our young CEO. She’s now 19, two TED Talks in! WOW how time flies! Have you seen Zoe’s first TED Talk? Drop us a comment if you would like us to drop the link to the video!

PART 1: Love Letters To Black Girls was EVERYTHING. 💌🌹

Yesterday , Zoe’s Dolls showed up with love in full bloom at one of our favorite schools…Mother Caroline Academy in Boston.

93 Love Letters delivered.
Roses + teddy bears.
Goodie bags.
A Photo Booth moment.
Pizza, cupcakes, candy… the whole sweet celebration. 🍕🧁🍬

And the most beautiful part?
Watching these girls write affirmations and build a Love Tree — pinning their power, joy, and self-love onto every heart. 🌳❤️

Huge love to Zoe’s Wellesley sisters who came through to volunteer + capture the magic. 📸✨

This wasn’t just an event…
It was a reminder:

Black girls deserve to be poured into. Always.

More photos coming in Part 2 💌
