Code/Art Increasing the number of girls in computer science by inspiring them with the creative possibilities of tech! In 1984, they represented 37%.

Women today represent 18% of all computer science graduates. Instead of improving along with our technologies, the percentage of women in computer science careers is drastically depleting. The misconception that STEM fields do not allow any creative freedom scares away the creative spirit of many women; Code/Art is a community effort to promote the combination of artistic expression and logical programming skills to young girls who have the inner talents to excel in both.

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteer and Starbucks employee, Anet Bravo for nominating Code/Art for a Starbucks Foundation Neighborhood Grant, helping us receive $1,000 to support our programs.

These funds went directly toward our Tech + Art Summer Camp, helping make it possible for our elementary and middle school students to receive free programming and lunch this past summer.

Weโ€™re so grateful for volunteers like Anet who take the extra step to advocate for our work and support our mission with their time and resources. We canโ€™t do this without our amazing community! ๐Ÿ’œ
