Clean Water…Living Water Update: Ecuador. We are praising God for another milestone in Ecuador: OBOV’s 10th major village water system project since we began work in the country three years ago.

Last Sunday, our in-country leader Marco Bustamante, along with his wife Tati and daughter Joaquina, installed a new water filtration system in the Allpachaca community in rural Cuenca (Quingeo Parish). Clean water now flows directly into each home in the village. The system is up and running correctly, and the community is already enjoying the clean, filtered water.

At the same time, important progress continues at Altos de Punta Hacienda, also in rural Cuenca / Quingeo. The community is currently building a protective structure around the new 2,000-gallon tank that OBOV installed in February 2026. They are also coating the inside and outside of an old concrete cistern with food-grade waterproofing. This cistern transfers water from the uphill tank down to the houses below.

This ongoing work has been strengthened by support from the Tomebamba Rotary Club, a connection made possible through our partners at Holiday Rotary in Holiday, Florida. Marco reports that this has been a very complex and lengthy project, but by God’s grace they are finally nearing the finish line.

Clean Water…Living Water Update: Guatemala. OBOV’s David Albizures has been hard at work again this month, installing three new water filtration systems across Guatemala. Traveling throughout the mountainous regions is an arduous task that makes this work especially difficult, yet David continues to serve faithfully.

Below is what the leaders at the three new sites shared with David:

1. La Perla. This community of approximately 1,200 people relies on its own well, but the water has long caused serious health problems. The church, which includes more than 100 children plus many others from the surrounding area, had been praying for a solution. The pastor expresses deep gratitude, saying the new system is the answer to a long-held prayer. It will especially protect the children and elderly, who are most vulnerable to waterborne diseases, and bring better health to the entire community.

2. Comunidad de Discípulos (Quetzaltenango). This church of over 100 members will also serve roughly 1,000 people in the wider community. Their main goal is to help prevent stomach problems and parasitic diseases, particularly among children and the elderly. They already carry out health and hygiene projects and plan to use the filter as a practical way to share God’s love through evangelism and community service. The church had long prayed for this solution and now receives it as a clear blessing from the Lord. The benefit will also reach pastors who travel from distant towns for study and training at the church.

3. Huehuetenango Seminary. This installation is a great blessing for the community because the seminary serves local social programs. The leaders are very grateful for the filter and are committed to using it carefully and efficiently.

We praise God for David’s perseverance and for these three new systems that will bring clean water, better health, and open doors for the Gospel.

Clean Water…Living Water Update: Cuba. Despite the crushing economic situation, nationwide blackouts, and extreme poverty that continue to weigh heavily on the Cuban people, OBOV’s mission to bring clean water to village communities presses forward.

In the past couple of weeks, our in-country leader Mario Montoya and his team traveled to the easternmost part of the island. They performed much-needed filter changes at existing water systems in the towns of San Antonio del Sur, Imías, Baracoa, Toa, and Maisí.

During the trip, the team completed a new installation at Bahía de Mata Baptist Church, located in a very poor rural area about 20 kilometers outside Baracoa. Many people in this community, including Pastor Luis himself, have suffered from extreme kidney disease caused by years of drinking contaminated water. Now, for the first time, they have access to clean, safe drinking water.

Pastor Luis has recorded a special video message of thanks to all OBOV supporters. His words are a powerful reminder of why this work matters so deeply.

We praise God for Mario and the team’s faithfulness, for Pastor Luis’s leadership, and for the opportunity to bring both clean water and the hope of the Gospel to these communities.

Clean Water…Living Water Update: Haiti. Since 2018, OBOV has established 35 solar-powered water stations in Haiti. Each one is the sole source of daily water for several thousand people in surrounding village communities.

A large part of the work our local teams do is ensuring every station continues to function properly. This often means replacing worn-out pumps, repairing damaged wiring or solar panels and performing the periodic filter changes that keep the water clean and safe.

This summer, Makendy Paul, Loubert Turenne, and their team tackled a particularly big challenge at the Coupon water system, which was established in 2015. The Coupon station serves several surrounding villages as well as two neighboring schools. Demand had grown so much that a single solar pump could no longer keep up.

Using an ingenious installation design, the team added a second pump in the same well that feeds the water station, effectively doubling its output. They also installed a second 4-panel solar array to power the new pump as well as a second water filtration system.

The result? The well is now producing an amazing 25–30 gallons per minute of clean, filtered water.

We praise God for Makendy, Loubert, and the entire team’s skill, creativity, and dedication. Their ongoing maintenance and upgrades ensure that these stations keep delivering life-sustaining water year after year.

Clean Water…Living Water Update: Guatemala. One of OBOV’s strongest commitments is sustainability — making sure the clean water systems we install continue serving communities for many years. This summer, our dedicated in-country leader David Albizures has been working hard to keep that commitment. He has visited each of our 70 existing water systems across Guatemala, performing needed maintenance, changing filters, and ensuring every system is still functioning well for the families, churches, schools, and communities that depend on them.

Every time David changes a set of filters, the impact is the same as installing the water system all over again. This careful, ongoing care is what allows clean water to keep flowing long after the original installation team has left.

We praise God for David’s faithfulness and for the lasting impact these systems continue to have in Guatemala. His work behind the scenes is a quiet but powerful testimony of stewardship and care for the people we serve.

Clean Water. Living Water Update: Ecuador. The 4th Annual Talent Showcase fundraiser this past Friday night was a giant success! (We plan to post pictures from the night later in the week.)

During the event, we shared this video which was produced by Emilio Bustamante and edited by his dad Marco, OBOV’s leader in Ecuador. It is an inspirational look into the phenomenal work which has occurred over the past year in the Quingeo province outside Cuenca.

Clean Water…Living Water Update: Haiti. How desperate are you for water? Most people in the developed world never give it a thought. Water is simply there — at the kitchen sink, in the shower, from a drinking fountain.

But what if you had to walk for water?

What if the only well in your village had no working pump?

What if there was no electricity to power a pump even if one existed?

For the families living near the National School of Guedon, that was the daily reality. Last week, Makendy Paul, our in-country leader, and his team completed the installation of a new 100% solar-powered water pump at the well in front of the school. The pump produces an impressive 20 gallons per minute using only the sun’s energy. Praise the Lord!

The water filter system has not yet been added, but this is a major first step toward establishing a full community water station that will serve the school and surrounding community.

We praise God for Makendy’s leadership and for the opportunity to bring clean water and the hope of the Gospel to this area of Haiti.
