Clean Water. Living Water Update: Ecuador. The 4th Annual Talent Showcase fundraiser this past Friday night was a giant success! (We plan to post pictures from the night later in the week.)

During the event, we shared this video which was produced by Emilio Bustamante and edited by his dad Marco, OBOV’s leader in Ecuador. It is an inspirational look into the phenomenal work which has occurred over the past year in the Quingeo province outside Cuenca.

We hope videos like this encourage you to consider joining us in spreading clean water and the Gospel message in places like Ecuador, Guatemala, Haiti, The DR and Cuba.

Clean Water…Living Water Update: Haiti. How desperate are you for water? Most people in the developed world never give it a thought. Water is simply there — at the kitchen sink, in the shower, from a drinking fountain.

But what if you had to walk for water?

What if the only well in your village had no working pump?

What if there was no electricity to power a pump even if one existed?

For the families living near the National School of Guedon, that was the daily reality. Last week, Makendy Paul, our in-country leader, and his team completed the installation of a new 100% solar-powered water pump at the well in front of the school. The pump produces an impressive 20 gallons per minute using only the sun’s energy. Praise the Lord!

The water filter system has not yet been added, but this is a major first step toward establishing a full community water station that will serve the school and surrounding community.

We praise God for Makendy’s leadership and for the opportunity to bring clean water and the hope of the Gospel to this area of Haiti.

Each solar-powered community water station impacts thousands of lives and costs between $5,000–$6,000 to complete. If you feel led to help bring clean water and the love of Jesus to more communities like Guedon, please consider donating at www.oneballonevillage.com/donate. God bless you!

Clean Water. Living Water Update: Dominican Republic. Yesterday, OBOV’s Carlos Rosario and Cristian Viva traveled from Jarabacoa to Redemption Village in Sosua and installed a new water filtration system at the community center in the village. Redemption is home to hundreds of Haitian refugees and the community center provides hundreds of meals to families each week. Now they have abundant clean water to share! Praise the Lord!

In addition to the water system, Carlos and Cristian delivered balls, toys, water bottles, jump ropes, 4 computers and other fun items for the many children in the village.

Special thanks to our partner Rick Sucher who has been working at Redemption Village as a missionary in the DR for many years. Special thanks also to the teams from University Carillon Church in Orlando and Bay Hope Church in Tampa for helping the OBOV team complete this terrific project!

Big thanks as always to OBOV supporters. Your financial gifts make projects like this possible. God bless you!

Mission Trip Update: Medical and Optometric Clinic. The final highlight of our wonderful week in Guantánamo was the medical and eye clinic we held in conjunction with the doctors and nurses who form the Jeremiah Ministry at Revival Tabernacle Church.

There are massive shortages of all medicines in Cuba and the mission team transported thousands of doses of different antibiotics, high blood pressure, diabetes, anti-parasitic, over-the-counter and many other medications as well as 250 pairs of reading glasses. The medical team in Guantánamo evaluated and treated 225 patients with prescriptions to take home and conducted many eye exams and dispensed many of the pairs of glasses. Praise the Lord!

The mission team also got to pray for the patients and deliver a special devotional message. 10 patients made the decision to place their trust in Jesus as their personal savior! What a great blessing.

Thanks as always to all OBOV supporters. Your prayers and financial gifts make miracles happen. God bless you!

Mission Trip Update: Clean Water. Another big highlight of last week’s trip to Guantánamo was installing water filtration systems at 3 mission churches in extremely impoverished areas. Each church serves a small village which otherwise has no access to clean water. The team welcomed everyone from each village to visit the church for clean drinking water and to learn about the “Living Water” of Jesus Christ.

OBOV also crossed a milestone with these three installations as we now have 100 active water systems in Cuba alone! Praise the Lord!

At each site, the team performed a mini VBS, complete with magic shows, science experiments, snacks, candies, sports, hand-made clothes and other goodies for the kids and adults from the village.

Special thanks to OBOV’s leader in Guantanamo, Mayito Montoya, who selected each site and made all the advance preparations to make each installation smooth.

Special thanks also to Pastor Alex Argota from Holguin who traveled to be with the team during the week and help install the water systems. What a blessing and what a great team! God bless you.

Mission Trip Update: Vacation Bible School. One of the primary objectives of our mission trip to Guantanamo was to help create “The Mathematics of Friendship”, a week-long VBS for 300 children. Pastor Carlos and Pastora Lisy tell us that the VBS is the single biggest outreach to the community each year, bringing in hundreds of new families to the church.

What began as a plan for 300 quickly changed when 483 children from the community arrived for day 1 of the VBS! God enabled the team to multiply “loaves and fishes” each day as the kids received backpacks, VBS T-shirts, snacks, goodie bags, candies, crafts, toys, Gospel bracelets, hand-made clothes and school supplies! Praise the Lord!

One of the most impressive aspects of the VBS was the creative team from Revival Tabernacle who captivated the kids with a fabulously entertaining set of characters and series of daily dramas. The OBOV Bay Hope team also closed each day’s activities with a magic show, science experiments and a detailed presentation on OBOV’s water systems.

The goal of the VBS was to expose children to the life-changing love and hope of Jesus Christ and we are happy to report that 50 children accepted Jesus as their personal savior during the closing VBS program. Praise the Lord!

The week ended with a big fun day for all kids at a nearby park, complete with clowns, sports activities, trampoline, parachute, bubble guns and a giant pizza party. We hope you enjoy the beautiful photos. God bless you.
