Miami-Dade Astronomy Institute Project

Miami-Dade Astronomy Institute Project Astronomy is a hobby whose participants enjoy watching the Sky, and the abundance of objects found in it with the unaided eye, binoculars, or telescopes.

Promoting amateur astronomy and astrophotography.. Promoviendo la afición a la astronomía y la astrofotografía.

A "happy amateur astronomy experience" begins at home.

The best place to enjoy the explorations of the Night Sky is at the home backyard with family and friends.

Electronically Assisted Astronomy, EAA provides the Amateur Astronomer the opportunity of visiting HUNDREDS and perhaps THOUSANDS of Planets and Deep Sky Objects, DSO's. such as Galaxies and Nebula with the aid of a telescope, an un-cooled or cooled CMOS camera, a reasonable accurate Equatorial EQ mount (or even Goto AZ/EL could work), and the help of a marvelous modern device such as ASIair, and an Ipad or Android tablet or cell phone, IN SPITE OF OUR LIGHT POLLUTION (The writer's backyard is at Bortle 8 bordering Bortle 9).

We began our Home Backyard EAA Journey on the evening of November 5, 2022. Our journey continued on November 11,13,14,17,23,26 and 27; December 4, 8, 10, 12 and 14, thanks to the wonderful South Florida weather and the convenience of doing it at home.

We have ALREADY saved 150 images of very interesting astronomical objects.

Electronically Assisted Astronomy, EAA could be your introduction to astro-photography or an interesting vehicle for a more frequent use of your imaging equipment.

TRY IT, YOU MAY LIKE IT!

Thank you for reading this and Clear Skies.

MIAMI RADIO AMATEURS WILL BE LAUNCHING FOUR HIGH ALTITUDE BALLONS THAT SHOULD CIRCUMNAVIGATE THE PLANET

Miami High Altitude Circumnavigating Balloon Project·Friday, September 13, 2019·
MIAMI HIGH ALTITUDE CIRCUMNAVIGATING BALLOON PROJECT plans to launch four High Altitude balloons that should reach an altitude of approximately 10,000 meters (32,800 feet), hopefully circumnavigating our planet Earth.
They are tentatively scheduled to be launched in November 2019, December 2019, January 2020 and February 2020.
Each balloon voyage after launch should be trackable. They will be carrying a very light payload powered by Solar Cells, with GPS and sensors capable of transmitting in HF in Hybrid WSPR Mode every two minutes during daylight: its ID, Location, Altitude, Temperature, and Voltage.
If you are a Scout Leader, Teacher, or an Advanced Student at any of our Colleges and Universities Science, Technology, Engineering or Math Programs and are interested in what we are doing we would love to hear from you. Please contact us at [email protected]

Good morning to all!
The happy Amateur Astronomy experience happens at home.
We took this picture of the Moon last evening, at about 7pm from our backyard terrace with our Canon Rebel T3i on the side focuser of our 4 inch Maksutov - Cassegrain Celestron NexStar 4SE. Please Enjoy it.
With blessings,

Another happy amateur astronomy experience at our home in suburbia SW Miami-Dade County, Florida.

Again, thanks all!

Last evening was a wonderful evening. Right after sunset, I began and completed the SkyAlign procedure of my Celestron NexStar 4SE.

Again, ALL OF NORTH NEIGHBORS SPOTLIGHT WERE OFF!!!

Weather was pleasantly cool, and there were no mosquitos or noseums.

And again he visited with his oldest son. Were here about one hour and promised to return tonight and spend more time. They were both very inquisitive and helpful.

What changed? We can now see Polaris with our own eyes, We observed a very faint Andromeda Galaxy in NNE sky, a spectacular Pleides, many, many double stars, The Great Orion Nebula, star clusters and the crowded neighborhood of stars stretching from the NNE to SWS moving NNW which is our own Universe our Milky Way.

This evening, if conditions are as good as last evening, we plan to be also taking out the 8" Orion XT8i Intelliscope Dobsonian, for another evening of observation.

Our wishes to all: clear nights and many happy amateur astronomy experiences.

With regards

Juan

They share among themselves, and with others, their experiences and welcome everyone!

They promote, the grassroots empowerment of the individual amateur and professional astronomer and their societies, to share their experiences in astronomy with local children and their Science Educators.

They recognize the connection between Amateur Astronomy with the academic disciplines of Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Sciences, Astronomy, Geology, Geography, Anthropology, Biology and Environmental Sciences.

They believe that through an interest in Astronomy, our children could find incentives to pursue higher educational careers in Science.
