MHB - Men Having Babies Supporting current / future gay parents and surrogates with 6 annual conferences worldwide & financial support through the Gay Parenting Assistance Program
(1)

This is an online forum for for people who were touched by, and benefited from gay surrogacy arrangements -- including gay dads and their families, surrogates and their family members, egg donors, and the professionals who help facilitate the process. The forum is managed by Men Having Babies (MHB), and the initial group of bloggers come from our network. MHB offers guidance and financial assistan

ce for gay men who want to become fathers through surrogacy. The organization organizes seminars, exhibits and workshops for parents and prospective parents in NY and other locations worldwide, and provides financial assistance and extensive online resources. Given our core values and mission, here are some issues we will pay attention to:
- Financial: while this may be a growing practice, surrogacy is still very expensive and financially out of reach for many. We feel this should be not just noted, but also combated (which the organization does through financial assistance and other means).
- Relationships: we believe surrogacy arrangement are more successful when attention is given to the meaningful relationships they can bring about.
- Well being of all parties: we believe that attention should be given to the way surrogacy arrangements should minimize the risks and maximize the potential short and long term benefits to all involved- including the surrogate and donor, their families, the prospective parents and the future children.

Becoming a father no longer has to depend on “finding the one.”

Every year, we see more single gay men pursuing surrogacy on their own and intentionally choosing the path to single fatherhood.

As a nonprofit organization, Men Having Babies is committed to supporting the unique needs of single intended fathers through dedicated support groups, financial assistance, and membership programs tailored to the specific challenges of becoming a parent as a single man.

At the Men Having Babies conference in Atlanta, we’ll host a special session for single gay men who are interested in becoming fathers. Explore the itinerary and join us: menhavingbabies.org/atlanta

Men Having Babies Conference in Atlanta will have a session on Independent, Semi-Independent and Modular surrogacy journeys, focusing on route options and advice for gay men who are interested in a journey without the help of an agency. This type of route can indeed help with cutting costs but it also adds you a lot of work, as you are taking on the role of an agency coordinator. So you need to know what your job requirements are!

We will discuss strategies and resources for taking a more hands-on approach to your journey, considerations for working with a known (family member or a friend) egg donor or surrogate, services that are required for a safe and ethical surrogacy journey, and more.

Also in the conference, you can learn more and consult with professionals about how to find your egg donor and surrogate, what you need to ask them (and yourself) prior to start working with them and more.

Rev. Darrell Goodwin and his partner, Kentavis, are new dads to a baby girl through surrogacy. Part of the reason they share their parenting journey on Instagram is because they believe visibility is highly important. "We particularly found it hard to find other black couples who went though this process and diversity matters," Rev. Goodwin told us.

The couple says that one of their biggest challenges during their surrogacy journey was navigating uncertainty. "Being far from home, in another country, waiting for our daughter Kyrie’s arrival. It stretched us emotionally and spiritually in ways we didn’t expect, the Rev said.

"What sustained us was faith, the strength of community, and learning to trust what we could not control. We learned how to receive support and stay present through it all. Now, holding Kyrie in our arms, every step, even the hard ones, feels sacred and deeply worth it."

As gay men and human rights advocates, it is important for us that the women who help us grow our families will be treated amazingly! We call it Ethical Surrogacy

The importance of following the ethical guideline that was developed to protect surrogates, egg donors and intended parents is huge: we want to be proud of the way in which our kids came to be -- through kindness, friendship, and love. We want EVERYONE involved in giving our children life to come out of the experience happy and well.

At the upcoming Men Having Babies* conference in Atlanta we will discuss ethical surrogacy and how to make sure you follow it if you choose to have biological children. You will hear from gay dads and surrogates which questions you should ask, what is the correct legal and medical procedure, what is the psychological aspect of it, and more.

Check out the full itinerary and make sure to secure your spot, as seats are limited and filling up quickly: menhavingbabies.org/atlanta

It's important to note that this conference is NOT only for guys who are willing to start their journey to fatherhood *right now*. This is also for those who are interested to know more about surrogacy and ways in which our organization works to assist the community of gay men and surrogates.

👉 Yes, surrogacy can be expensive — but there are ways to make it more affordable.
👉 Ethical surrogacy is not exploitation — it’s collaboration.
👉 And no, surrogacy is not as simple as “just finding a surrogate” — it’s a complex process that requires education, planning, and support.

In this new article, Men Having Babies helps Gaye Magazine debunk three of the biggest misconceptions about surrogacy ahead of the 2026 Men Having Babies Atlanta Conference.
