On International Overdose Awareness Day, the main goal is to end overdose, remember loved ones lost without stigma, and acknowledge the grief of families and friends.

At GA we see the difference prevention and support can make. Through our Healthy Adolescence Conference, youth explore topics like substance misuse, mental health, and healthy decision making in honest, age appropriate ways. In our Youth Excellence programs, staff build consistent relationships that help young people recognize risks, strengthen coping skills, and choose safer paths when they face pressure around drugs and alcohol.

Overdose is preventable, and no one should face these challenges alone. If you or someone you care about is struggling with substance use, reach out to a trusted person, community organization, or professional for help. There is support, and there is hope. https://ow.ly/45go50ZBujr

Meet M-PACT: Mentoring through Positive Action, Character, and Transformation.

Gang Alternative, Inc.’s new M-PACT program supports youth ages 10–17 in Title I schools through weekly, two-hour small-group, trauma-informed mentoring sessions.

Youth build skills in communication, decision-making, emotional regulation, and healthy peer relationships, with a dedicated month-long focus on bullying and cyberbullying each year.

Each participant also receives monthly one-to-one mentoring to reinforce lessons, support academic success, and set personal goals — another way GA is offering positive alternatives to crime, violence, and dependency.

Gang Alternative’s Project BRAVE and Project CAATS teams recently partnered with Speak Life End Bullying the Musical to bring a powerful, youth centered anti bullying message to communities across South Florida.

Through five events with Boys and Girls Clubs in Broward and Palm Beach counties and GA’s BLOC youth in Homestead, more than 600 young people engaged with a message of kindness, accountability, and the power of using your voice.

Youth watched the Speak Life End Bullying musical film, joined interactive discussions, received resources and swag, and took part in the Speak Life Challenge.

Together with our partners, Gang Alternative created space for youth to reflect on their experiences and recognize the role they can play in building safer, more supportive communities.

Introducing GA's new Project STEER (Support, Treatment, Engagement, Education, and Resilience), keeping young people safe from prescription and other drug risks.

We help students in grades 4–8 in high-need Miami-Dade neighborhoods stay safe from prescription drug misuse and other substance-use risks before they start.

Through weekly small-group sessions in schools and community sites, youth learn practical skills to resist prescription drug misuse and other substance risks, build healthy coping skills, and make better decisions.

One-on-one mentoring, caregiver support, and links to services help families strengthen resilience and support a safer, healthier future for their children and communities. Find out more here: https://ow.ly/cEv450ZmTAP

In this year's summer camp, our BLOC students recently tapped into their inner entrepreneurs during a super fun "Junk Case" workshop!

Our youth let their creative juices flow as they "junkified" their phone and iPad cases with gems, charms, and custom designs. But we didn't stop at just jazzing up their devices—we challenged them to think bigger!

Our students learned how to turn this trendy art form into a real business by marketing and creating custom cases for others.

At BLOC, every hands-on project is an opportunity to build real-life skills. By blending creativity with entrepreneurship, we’re helping our students build confidence, master business basics, and discover their potential as future leaders!

Next stop: The Future! Our BLOC students stepped into virtual reality with Transfr Trek to explore high-demand careers in 3D at our summer camp!

From performing heart surgery to changing, these hands-on VR simulations let our youth test-drive over 150 different careers in under 10 minutes.
Through interactive simulations and real-world job data, they aren't just imagining their future—they’re building a clear path toward it!

At BLOC, we love bringing new tools and experiences to our students, so they feel confident, prepared, and ready for whatever career path they choose!
