Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of justice.

On June 19th, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, the last enslaved Black Americans in Galveston, Texas learned they were free. Their delayed freedom reminds us that progress has never been automatic—it has always required people willing to organize, push forward, and ensure the promise of freedom reaches everyone.

The Juneteenth flag tells that story:

❤️ Red represents the blood, sacrifice, and resilience of those who endured and fought for freedom.
🤍 White symbolizes new beginnings, liberty, and hope.
💙 Blue reflects perseverance and our enduring place in the American story.

Juneteenth is not just about remembering the barriers our ancestors faced. It is also about honoring what they built despite them. Their freedom dreams require something of us: to stay informed, stay engaged, and continue building communities where Black lives, voices, culture, and futures can thrive.

On February 7th, we’re joining Pérez Art Museum Miami for Art + Soul, an annual celebration supporting the PAMM Fund for Black Art and the continued presence of Black artists in the museum’s permanent collection.

The evening honors Fab 5 Freddy, with an elevated dinner by Chef Raheem Sealy and a late-night Celebration overlooking Biscayne Bay with music by Deep Fried Funk and DJ Aya.
