Welcome to Women's History Month! All this month we will be highlighting successful and inspirational Florida Women of Achievement. The FWA seeks to empower audiences of all ages through story telling using photography and film. Look for frequent posts and updates on our brand new Twitter and Instagram!

Florida Women of Achievement (FWA) held a VIP reception and screening to mark the launch of Scherley Busch’s new documentary series, Portraits of Inspiration. The first film in the series ‘The Power Nun’, a biopic about Sister Jeanne O’Laughlin, was shown for a full house at the Miracle theatre on Tuesday, May 19, 2015.

Founded in 1992, by artist Scherley Busch, the FWA Photographic Documentary has been exhibited at over 40 venues including The U.S. Senate Russell Rotunda, Washington, D.C., The Florida Governor’s Mansion and The Capitol in Tallahassee, Miami-Dade College, Barry University, The Miami Herald, Carrollton School and The Historical Museum of Southern Florida.

This first film documentary by Scherley Busch features trailblazer and humanitarian, Sister Jeanne O’Laughlin. Growing up in Michigan during the great depression, she entered the convent at the young age of 15.With Vatican II opening new doors, she traveled across the country from Arizona to South Florida during the Women’s Movement. Using her wit, charm and humor she broke down barriers and paved the way for men and women alike. Sr Jeanne took Miami by storm, raising over $200 million and put Barry University on the map. She took her fervor for education and inspired everyone around her.
