Celebrating Six Extraordinary Women of Miami-Dade County
In honor of Women’s History Month 2026, the Gwen Cherry Park Foundation proudly celebrates six outstanding Black women whose leadership, dedication, and service have made a lasting impact throughout Miami-Dade County.
These women have broken barriers, uplifted communities, and paved the way for future leaders through their commitment to public service, civic engagement, education, advocacy, and economic empowerment.
We proudly honor:
• Marilyn Holifield – A trailblazing attorney known for her decades of advocacy for civil rights, justice, and equality in Miami-Dade County.
• Christine King – A respected community advocate and leader whose dedication to public service and neighborhood empowerment has strengthened countless communities.
• Dorothy Fields – A passionate advocate for community development and social programs that uplift families and improve quality of life.
• Betty Ferguson – A visionary public servant who served with distinction as a Miami-Dade County Commissioner and championed economic development, education, and opportunity for underserved communities.
• Teri Williams – A nationally recognized banking leader dedicated to expanding financial empowerment and economic opportunity.
• Marleine Bastien – A powerful voice for immigrant rights and social justice whose work has uplifted and protected Haitian and immigrant communities across South Florida.
Together, these remarkable women represent the strength, resilience, and brilliance of Black women leaders who continue to shape the future of Miami-Dade County. Their legacy of leadership serves as an inspiration to young women and girls who aspire to make a difference in their communities.
