Healthy Start Coalition of Miami-Dade The Healthy Start Coalition of Miami-Dade (HSCMD) is a community-based non-profit organization with t The Healthy Start Coalition of Miami-Dade, Inc.

was incorporated on April 1, 2001 and serves as a prenatal and infant care coalition. The Healthy Start Coalition of Miami-Dade is responsible for the establishment and oversight of the Miami-Dade Healthy Start system, which includes directing funds for continuous care coordination to pregnant women and children birth to age three, evaluating services, and quality improvement and assurance responsibilities. Primary goals are

1. to reduce infant mortality
2. reduce the number of low birth weight and pre-term birth
3. improve maternal and child health developmental outcomes. The Healthy Start Coalition of Miami-Dade current membership consists of 100 maternal, infant and child health community stakeholders including consumers of maternal and child health services, migrant and community health centers, local hospitals, birthing centers and other providers of maternal child health services, local medical societies, local health planning organizations; local maternal and infant health advocacy interest groups; county and municipal governments; social service organizations; local education communities; and community organizations that represent or serve the target population.

Today, we’re celebrating Maria Lorenza Escobar’s fifth work anniversary with the Healthy Start Coalition of Miami-Dade!

As an Intake Coordinator for our Connect program, Maria helps connect expectant parents and families with young children to community resources and services that support their needs—from pregnancy and parenting education to newborn care and more.

This weekend, our team was proud to take part in the Miami Diaper Bank Diaper Need Awareness Distribution Event in Homestead, helping connect local families with essential resources and support.

Last Friday, our TEAM Dad Coaches had the opportunity to connect with families at Eugenia B. Thomas K-8 Center as part of Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ Fathers in Action & Advocacy Week. 💙

Through conversations like these, we’re proud to support and encourage fathers to stay engaged, informed, and active in their children’s lives. Strong dads help build strong families and stronger communities. 💪🏽
