All Aboard-leggers, a 2026 O, Miami Poetry Festival project by Nicole Espaillat and Bookleggers Library, brought families, friends, and poets down to South Miami for Free First Saturday at the Gold Coast Railroad Museum 🚂

A scavenger hunt guided curious visitors to choo-choo-choose their own adventure through the museum’s historic rail cars and locomotives, inspiring reflection and creative expression through a series of poetry prompts.

“Crossing Bards,” poetic street signs now permanently installed at the museum, helped folks find their way back to the O, Miami tent, where those who submitted their writing received a free collectible poetry bandana!

Our friends joined us to kick off their month-long residency with a pop-up bookstore offering free books to all. 📚

Thank you for having us ! ☀️

O, Miami brought Poetry in Pajamas to Pinecrest Gardens for the first time this April! Thank you to all the kiddos, families, and friends that joined us for a magical night of poetry and play, and to for being the most gracious hosts!🌛🌿

We had the highest number of kid poets in history 🥹 and a lineup of collaborators that elevated the night’s programming with fun games, crafts, and snacks for kids of all ages.

set the stage with vibrant pom-poms and cozy corners perfect for little poets like our hosts Ada and Kai and our musical guests to take the mic at showtime. 🧶🎤

Guests were invited to interact with poetry at ’s Plastic Poetry wall, offered hands-on multi-sensory activities, .fl wow’ed with live screenprinting of an original Poetry in Pajamas design, and ’s ZipOde Atlas Holobox put local voices on the map with the support of , who made our poetry recordings possible!

The by-kids-for-kids market gave little ones an opportunity to buy and sell handmade goodies, and for dessert? Cereal from and banana soft serve from . Yum! 🍌

A huge thank you to for trusting us with this special night for another year, and to for keeping the O, Miami team fed during set-up!

If you’ve been to an O, Miami event, bought a publication, or engaged with our Sunroom program in any capacity, then you’ve met Z. Yasmin Waheed. 🌞

As O, Miami’s Poetry Coalition Fellow for the past 2 years, Yasmin has made every part of this organization better. Thank you 🫶🏽 for all the ways in which you’ve shown up for South Florida’s poetry and poets—from greeting folks with your unforgettable smile and warmth to reading through thousands of poems to find *the one*… and genuinely everything in between. We’re so grateful for you! 👏🏽🥹

As we celebrate the start of a new chapter for Yasmin, we’re excited to announce that our search for the 2026-2027 Poetry Coalition Fellow has officially begun!

The Poetry Coalition is a national alliance of nearly thirty organizations dedicated to working together to promote the value poets bring to our culture and the important contribution poetry makes in the lives of people of all ages and backgrounds. This 10-month fellowship invites one fellow to join the O, Miami team as an independent, paid contractor who will develop skills in communication and critical thinking by getting immersed in all aspects of the organization: community engagements, festival production, publishing (traditional and civic), and education residencies.

Applications are open through July 31, 2026!

Watch this video to learn more about Yasmin’s experience as O, Miami’s Poetry Coalition Fellow and visit the link in our bio for all the information, including the Submittable application.

Over 15 years ago, P. Scott Cunningham invited local poets to grab their typewriters and hang out around Miami. The group, known then as the Miami Poetry Collective, became O, Miami!

brought us together once more on April 2 to celebrate the Florida launch of his new collection of poetry, “Self Portrait as the ‘i’ in Florida.”

A full house of friends, family, and collaborators met in the Mangrove Ballroom at Gramps Getaway where Nikisha Williams, COO of the opened the night with an introduction to writer and director Darius Daughtry. Darius read the first poems of the night followed by a surprise appearance by Campbell McGrath to welcome Scott to the stage.

Thank you for joining us, , , and , and to for hosting us on day 2 of the 2026 O, Miami Poetry Festival!

P. . Scott Cunningham closed the night with a selection of poems ranging from reflections on fatherhood to musings on Miami’s absurd billboards and which of the city’s Taco Bells is the best. As always, his poetry filled the room with lightness and a deep love for Florida.

We love you Scott! Congratulations on a successful release! 🪞🍊🌴🖼

On April 1, the first day of National Poetry Month and the 2026 O, Miami Poetry Festival, Marjory’s Moon rose above Miami Beach. 👒🌕💫

The poets were ready—outfitted in stars and shimmery gowns, raising tiny vials of moon water, sharing a real wheel of , and sipping glasses of the “April Spritz,” a special cocktail featuring agave spirits donated by , elegantly crafted by ’s on-site mixologist.

By the time the full moon reached its peak, we’d launched ’s community-sourced Moons for Miami Lunar Calendar, heard surreal poetry from , peeked at Jupiter and her moons through ’s telescope, and kicked off one of our most successful open mics to date.

Thank you so much to all who read a moon poem, to our host , and especially to the Andaz Miami Beach team for supporting this event and hosting us on the beautiful Olazul Lawn! We couldn’t have picked a better moonlit launching pad for this year’s poetry festival.

In the second half of the 2026 O, Miami Poetry Festival, project managers geared us up in knee pads and helmets, fed us pastelitos, upgraded our perfume collection, got us up in time for sunrise, ringmastered a circus of words, ticketed the whole block, broadcast our poems across the lower thirds of a Miami Heat live broadcast, put up Wanted Ads in search for Cupid, spotlighted motherhood and art-making, caught poetry on film, sang us lullabies, delivered 2,000+ poem-dreams via bike, read books in a record store *and* read us to filth, taught us how to tattoo, and programmed an instrument that prints poems when ice melts...

And guess what? April is only the beginning for so much of this work. We’re so excited to continue nurturing these projects and inviting South Florida’s communities to engage with poetry in new and novel ways. 🚲🗞️

Thank you to this incredible group of artists and leaders for trusting us with their ideas. We’re still in awe at how much was accomplished in 30 days. Congratulations!

Now that we’re a few days into May, O, Miami’s ready to look back at the wild and wondrous month we just spent celebrating poetry in South Florida. April was an hora loca! 🥳

Thank you to everyone who showed up, wrote a poem, read a poem, filled out a survey, hit the dance floor, watched the moon, rode a train, sang a balada, picked up trash, brought a friend, and rocked a tote bag at one of our 2026 O, Miami Poetry Festival events. Join us in reflecting on all the projects and programming over the next few weeks! We want to hear what you took away from each poetic activation this April.

Forever grateful for and for capturing the energy of each festival event, like this audio of bringing Miami’s heartbeat to our quinceañera! 🥁

Stay tuned for photo albums, coming soon. 📸
