These six nonprofits are doing the work every day to uplift, advocate for, and invest in Miami’s Black diaspora community — and now is the time to help fuel their impact. 🖤✨

From education and wellness to culture, opportunity, and community leadership, each organization is creating meaningful change across Miami.

Through May 29, every donation made as part of this year’s State of Black Philanthropy campaign will be matched up to $11K per organization — doubling the power of your support and helping these nonprofits reach even more people.

No gift is too small to make a difference. Join us in investing in the organizations building a stronger, more connected community for all.

A night rooted in culture, connection, and community. 🖤

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2026 State of Black Philanthropy as we celebrated the resilience, joy, and impact of Miami’s Black diaspora community. Together, we honored the people and stories that continue to shape our city and inspire its future.

Still feeling the energy from last night’s State of Black Philanthropy. 🖤✨

From the music and art to the stories, conversations, and shared joy, the evening was a beautiful reflection of the strength and vibrancy of Miami’s Black diaspora community - Jamaicans, Haitians, Bahamians Dominicans, Trinidadians … and all of Miami’s Afro-latinos. We’re grateful to everyone who showed up to celebrate, connect, and pour into a future rooted in belonging, opportunity, and collective impact.

Together, we honored the generations of Black leaders, artists, entrepreneurs, families, and changemakers whose influence continues to shape Miami in powerful ways. Whether you joined us for the first time or have been part of this gathering for years, thank you for being part of this community and this movement.

Julissa doesn’t just work in the nonprofit space, she helps move it.

Every day, she shows up to champion nonprofit organizations, amplify impact, and build meaningful connections across our network. As both a passionate advocate and a visible voice for our foundation, she bridges the gap between community needs and real action.

Just one week ago, we were so proud to see her recognized with the Game Changer award at this year’s IGNITE! Conference.

These awards celebrate leaders across nonprofit and philanthropy who are driving impact from every angle: operations, frontline work, and emerging leadership. Julissa represents all of that, and then some.

Congratulations, Julissa. You truly are Miami’s Community Gal!

BIG NEWS for water safety in Miami-Dade! 🌊

Zero Drownings Miami-Dade has received new support from and to expand its award-winning child water safety initiative. With drowning remaining the leading cause of accidental death for children ages 1–14 in Miami-Dade County, this philanthropic support will increase access to free swim lessons and water safety education across the county, helping protect more children and families from preventable drowning.

It’s a powerful example of how targeted funding can drive real impact: expanding programs, strengthening partnerships, connecting with community, and building a model that can reach far beyond Miami-Dade.
