Community members, friends, and leaders across South Florida are coming together Friday evening for a candlelight vigil honoring Coral Springs Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer, who was tragically killed earlier this week.

The public memorial will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, April 3, at Coral Springs City Hall, 9500 W. Sample Road, Coral Springs, Florida.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a white candle to light in her memory. Organizers also invite participants to wear or bring something in orange or green, the colors of Florida A&M University, her alma mater.

Nancy Metayer Bowen, a dedicated colleague, sister, friend, public servant, and passionate advocate especially for the Haitian American community, served her city with heart and commitment. Tributes have poured in from colleagues and residents who described her as a “light in every room” and a leader who truly cared about people.

This evening’s gathering is an open space for remembrance, shared stories, and collective support for her family and the Coral Springs community during this difficult time. All are welcome to attend and help keep her legacy of kindness and service shining bright.

We Love You, Nancy! 🧡
