We met over 100 people at Lotus House's helmet (and more) giveaway in the space of just an hour. Care packs of healthy food, living essentials, WalkSafe water bottles, sunglasses, and other items were distributed en masse to those in need.

Thank you to our volunteers Maria, Madi, and Nick for helping out to make UHealth's support a success.

Over 45 Center Grove Neighbors came to the Coconut Grove Branch Library last Saturday to hear about the grassroots community proposal for a 30-day pilot project to calm traffic on Matilda Street and Gifford Lane for kids and families - along with a protected bike lane to support kids riding to school.

Miami-Dade District 7, and City of Miami District 2 were present to offer advice and support, along with Transit Alliance Miami, UHealth BikeSafe and University of Miami School of Architecture's Center for Urban & Community Design.

The Village of Pinecrest partnered with the University of Miami's BikeSafe team on a federal Safe Streets for All initiative.

If you have a school-aged child, your 5-minute anonymous survey is exactly what this study needs. The BikeSafe team wants to know how your family moves through Pinecrest, how the walk to school feels, where you feel confident and where you pause. Every answer becomes a data point that informs real street safety improvements for this community.

The Miami-Dade Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) participated in Springview Elementary School’s Bike to School Day bike bus in Miami Springs alongside Transit Alliance Miamince Miami and University of Miami KiDZ Neuroscience Center, where Alexandra “Ally” Scroggin, Mobility Planner 1, and Jesús Fuentes, P.E., represented the TPO in support of safe and active transportation initiatives for students and families.

The event highlighted the importance of safe routes to school and the continued need for connected sidewalks, protected bike lanes, safe crossings, and traffic calming measures that support student health, independence, and overall community safety while encouraging more families to choose active transportation.
