AWOM is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation founded by Sarah Akiba, a wardrobe stylist and fashion designer from Miami, FL who lost her father to lung cancer in 2013. She started this foundation in order to help fund other non profits and unite all people who have lost an “Angel". ms began telling their stories about their "angels". So this foundation is for them, to raise awareness and support for the victims and families left behind by a loving friend, family, or any other important person in their life. Not only for those who have lost someone, but AWOM also helps other organizations and foundations and serves as their “Angel” by donating and volunteering. In November of 2015, lung cancer awareness month, Sarah combined her love for fashion and her tragic loss to create the first AWOM event by designing a series of hats, which raised over $2000 where all proceeds were given to two lung cancer foundations: The American Lung Associate and Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation, to help raise awareness and find a cure. After such a successful first event, and seeing how much people cared a second event was planned, this time to make Angel Watching Over Me a foundation of its own. AWOM’s mission is to raise money to donate to different associations, families in need that have lost someone, and create support groups to simply speak. AWOM’s way to help raise awareness is by throwing a series of fun events, whether it be for fashion, music, art, where people can come together and socialize while giving back! We strongly believe that nobody should have to go through this impossible event alone. So reach out to us, lets do this together!
