It is with profound sadness that we inform you that one of Miami's greatest to ever hit the lanes passed away this morning. Mr. Chuck Atwood.

Back in the day, Chuck was a feared competitor at all of the centers. His dominant, quiet demeaner and as close to perfect accuracy was enough to make anyone take notice of his talent. Everyone wanted Chuck to be part of their team, may it have been 5-man, 4-man or doubles. If he was part of it, the odds of you being a front runner was pretty darn good.

Chuck was inducted into the Greater Miami USBC Hall of Fame in 1986 for Ability. From the moment he was inducted, he became a major decision maker as part of the Hall of Fame committee for numerous years even after he had to give up bowling due to an injury. He was a stickler for rules (that might have been the lawyer in him) and made sure they were always adhered to when meeting and voting. For those of us that were lucky enough to attend those meetings with him, we would all sit quietly while he looked through his notebook that was as big as a house and read through it. He had all inducted Hall of Fame members applications and stats, all current and past by-laws and all the new applicants' information to guide us all in making the correct decision.

For many years Chuck assisted GMBA and GMUSBC with legal matters and as a yearly nonbiased auditor as a bowler, not a board member. He was a powerhouse that we all respected on and off the lanes.

Chuck joins his wife Leslie in heaven. Leslie, please cheer him on for all of us when he starts bowling on those lanes up in the clouds.

We send our sincerest condolences to Greg (inducted into GMUSBC's Hall of Fame in 2010), his wife Alexa and their two sons.
