September is National Child Welfare Workforce Appreciation Month, but at Florida Foster Care Review, we believe the people who support children and families deserve to be recognized every month 💙

Every day, child welfare professionals and volunteers show up to do work that can be challenging, demanding, and incredibly meaningful. They advocate for children, support families, navigate complex situations, and work to make sure children receive the care and services they need.

At FFCR, we’re fortunate to see that dedication firsthand through our work in Miami-Dade. Our Child Welfare Professionals of the Month recognition gives us an opportunity to celebrate workers and volunteers who consistently demonstrate professionalism, knowledge, compassion, and a commitment to providing quality services to children and families ✨️

So, while September gives us a reason to celebrate, we want to say thank you all year long to the people who keep showing up for children and families 👏

This year, as we’re getting ready for our 21st Annual event, we can’t help but look back with gratitude at where it all began ✨️

From the early days to today, one thing hasn’t changed: our community coming together to support children and families 💙

When the Department’s involvement ends, a family’s need for support doesn’t necessarily end with it.

Through our Family Preservation & Support Program, FFCR continues to walk alongside families after case closure - providing prevention-focused support that helps families navigate challenges, remain safely together, and move forward with confidence 💙

This is one family’s story of finding support when they needed it most.

On , August 17, we’re celebrating the people who make this work possible. 💙

Our staff, board members, volunteers, and community partners come together to bridge gaps, build meaningful connections, and create better outcomes for children, young adults, and families impacted by foster care.

Today is a reminder that change doesn’t happen because of one person, it happens when a community chooses to care, show up, and take action ✨️

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” — Margaret Mead

Sometimes, it's the little things that make the biggest difference 📦💙

Our Permanency Roundtable team was incredibly grateful to have received 40 Sweet Cases from Foster Love for the children and youth we serve! 🎒

For many children entering and transitioning throughout foster care, the only thing they have to carry their belongings in is a garbage bag. Sweet Cases help change that by providing a duffel bag filled with comfort items and essentials. These duffels not only offer practical support, but also dignity, care, and hope during a difficult time.

A huge thank you to Foster Love for helping ensure the children and youth we support know they matter 💙

There's nothing quite like seeing a young person step into their voice and lead change ✨️

Our Senior Training & Engagement Manager, and longtime Florida Youth SHINE Mentor, Marissa Leichter, recently had the opportunity to attend the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute's Foster Youth Internship Program Congressional Briefing in Washington, D.C., where two incredible Florida Youth SHINE young adults were selected for the prestigious 2026 cohort.

Watching one of her longtime mentees confidently present policy recommendations rooted in lived experience was a full-circle moment. From strengthening relational permanency through mentorship to addressing sibling separation, child welfare workforce shortages, and wraparound support for families seeking reunification, these young leaders reminded everyone in the room that those closest to the system are often closest to the solutions.

We couldn't be more proud to celebrate their advocacy, leadership, and the bright future they're helping create for children, youth, and families 💙
