AFP Miami has a membership of more than 150 talented and well-respected fundraising professionals from the private nonprofit, public, and consulting arenas; it provides them with numerous networking and educational/professional development opportunities. The chapter strives for excellence in the fundraising profession by offering its members and the nonprofit community-in-general a variety of year-round educational, training, and advocacy programs, including collaborative efforts with other South Florida AFP chapters and co-sponsorship of the annual Planet Philanthropy Conference. AFP Miami members are experts in advancing charitable giving who seek to continually increase their fundraising expertise and maximize donor relations for the greater good of the organizations and constituencies they serve.

What ethical questions or tricky situations have you encountered in grant fundraising? We want to hear from you!

As we prepare for AFP Miami’s October 22nd ethics education session, Building Trust: Ethics Across the Grant Lifecycle, we’re inviting members to submit questions and real-world scenarios for moderator, Krista Berry, MS, of Broward College Foundation, and speaker Rosa Santiago of The Kirk Foundation, to consider during their fireside chat.

From deciding whether to pursue a funding opportunity to navigating relationships with funders, managing awards, communicating challenges, and reporting outcomes, the conversation will explore the ethical gray areas that grant professionals encounter every day.

Cafecito, conversation & a little AFP Miami history!

Today, we kicked off the AFP Miami Past Presidents Council in the most Miami way possible—over cafecitos at La Carreta! Seven past presidents, representing AFP chapter leadership from the early 1990s through today, came together to reconnect, share perspectives, and talk about ways we can continue to lift up our chapter and the fundraising profession in South Florida.

The Past Presidents Council brings together former AFP chapter presidents to share their experience, serve as ambassadors and mentors, and help strengthen the future of AFP Miami. And this is just the beginning!

Join AFP ICON 2027 in Baltimore as the AFP Miami Joyce Galya Scholarship Recipient!

AFP ICON is the world's largest conference for fundraising professionals. Learn and hone your craft from the best fundraisers in our sector throughout an action-packed 3-day conference.

This is exclusively available to AFP Miami Chapter Members who fit the following criteria:

• Currently employed as a fundraising professional with 10 years or less;
• Agrees to attend the full conference and complete an evaluation form;
• Agrees to share their conference experience via a written or video report for use in future collateral to promote the scholarship program.

Who was Joyce Galya? The AFP Miami Joyce Galya Scholarship Award was established in 2009 to honor the memory of our wonderful friend, Joyce, who believed in assisting however possible, particularly those with a passion for always learning best practices in the profession.

The scholarship includes AFP ICON registration and up to $1,500 for travel and lodging.
