Our Executive Director, Sean Prospect, was honored as one of Twelve Good Men in 2021 for his outstanding leadership and accomplishments across multiple organizations, including more than 20 years leading South Florida After-School All-Stars (SFASAS). Through his work, thousands of youths in our community benefit annually from high-quality after-school and summer programs that support academic achievement, leadership development, and lifelong success. He truly is making a difference in the lives of many!

Because of organizations like the Afterschool Alliance, programs such as SFASAS can continue providing students with safe spaces, academic support, enrichment opportunities, mentorship, and experiences that help them succeed in school and in life.

🎉 Celebrating an unforgettable End-of-Year High School Student Showcase at FIU last week!
We proudly cheered on the incredible achievements of students from several of our SFASAS high school after-school programs across Miami. From powerful drama performances and impressive science projects to vibrant dance routines and beautiful chorus numbers, these talented teens showcased the creativity, confidence, and skills they developed throughout the year.
Thanks to our valued partner, FIU, students had the opportunity to perform on stage at the BBC Campus and experience a true college environment firsthand.
It was an inspiring day filled with talent, hard work, and school pride — and a wonderful reminder of the impact our high school programs continue to make in the lives of South Florida youth.

🌟 Board Spotlight: Andrew Obermann 🌟

This month, we are highlighting another fabulous leader from the South Florida After-School All-Stars Board of Directors — Andrew Obermann.

Andrew is a relationship manager with Amerant Bank’s Private Client Group, with more than 10 years of experience serving high-net-worth individuals and their businesses. A graduate of Florida State University’s Herbert Wertheim College of Business, Andrew believes that strong personal relationships are the foundation for understanding client needs and delivering a truly tailored banking experience.

We’re grateful to have Andrew’s expertise and leadership supporting the mission of SFASAS. 💙

🌟 Board Spotlight: Raoul G. Cantero 🌟

This month, we are highlighting another fabulous leader from the South Florida After-School All-Stars Board of Directors — and we’re honored to recognize Raoul G. Cantero.

Raoul made history as the first justice of Hispanic descent appointed to the Florida Supreme Court, where he heard hundreds of appeals and authored more than 100 opinions.

Today, he is the Managing Partner of White & Case’s Miami office and leads the firm’s litigation practice. Widely respected in his field, he has handled more than 400 appeals and delivered over 200 oral arguments, earning top recognition from Chambers USA and being named one of the top 500 lawyers in the U.S. by LawDragon.

We’re grateful for Raoul’s leadership and commitment to our mission. 💙
