What an incredible few days at the 2026 ASCE Florida Section Annual Conference! The ASCE Miami-Dade Branch was proud to join engineers from across the state to celebrate excellence, leadership, and the future of our profession.

👏 Congratulations to Emilio Castellanos (FIU) for being named the 2026 ASCE Florida Section Student of the Year!

🏆 Congratulations to our Miami-Dade Branch Treasurer, Leonard Barrera Allen, and The ReefLine project team for receiving the 2026 ASCE Florida Section Sustainable Project of the Year Award for their outstanding work and innovation.

The conference was also a great opportunity to showcase the strength of the Miami-Dade Branch. We were proud to have several of our Board members in attendance, including Branch President Alessandra, Valerie Coloma, who represented the Florida Section as Past Younger Member Group (YMG) Chair, and Nicolas Karpathy, serving as the ASCE Florida Section Government Relations Chair. We were also excited to have both the FIU and University of Miami ASCE Student Chapters join us throughout the conference.

Congratulations again to all of this year’s award recipients, scholarship winners, and student leaders. Thank you to everyone who helped make this conference a success—we’re already looking forward to next year!

The ASCE Miami-Dade Branch Outreach Committee is proud to recognize Emanuel Solomon of Robert Morgan Educational Center High School for earning 2nd Place in the 2026 Florida Section Bridge Competition!
Emanuel competed against talented students representing all 13 ASCE Florida Branches, demonstrating outstanding engineering skills, creativity, dedication, and perseverance. Earning a top finish at the state level is a remarkable achievement, and we could not be prouder of his success.
Emanuel’s accomplishment reflects the hard work he has invested in developing his engineering knowledge and serves as an inspiration to other students interested in STEM and engineering careers. We are excited to see what the future holds for him and look forward to watching him continue to excel.
