Yesterday we joined the celebrations at Miami-Dade College to commemorate National Flag Day. 🇺🇸

June 14 marks the adoption of the American flag by the Continental Congress in 1777. Today’s “Stars, Stripes & Civic Pride” event served as a reminder that civic participation remains one of the most meaningful ways we can honor the values our flag represents.

Out in the community!

This past weekend, members of our Voter Services Committee joined the Touching Miami with Love 2nd Annual Block Party to register new voters and share information about the upcoming August primary and November midterm elections.

Thank you to Morgan Anderson and Madeleine Shirley for representing LWV Miami-Dade and helping ensure more residents are informed, engaged, and ready to vote!

The League of Women Voters of Miami-Dade County in 1992.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan organization founded in 1920, shortly after the passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which granted women the right to vote. The League has a long history of promoting voter education and registration, as well as advocating for policies that strengthen democratic participation and civic engagement.

In Miami, we host candidate forums for local elections, provide voter information through Vote411, partner with Miami Dade College to educate students and register new voters, and convene leaders from across South Florida to discuss statewide legislative priorities.

Carry the history forward with us at our 2026 Annual Meeting this Saturday, June 6, at 3 PM at the Kendall Branch Library.
