Current Drumz Ova Gunz activities are part of the Tall Spirit Project presented by Delou Africa. Waaw!

Drumz Ova Gunz was developed in 2013 as a gender-specific cultural character development program to teach young men African drum, masquerade, and acrobatics as tools to build communication, peace, and collaboration. The two-year initiative convenes skilled African and Caribbean cultural artists and establishes a platform for youth to experience the African drum and masquerade genres. The Tall Spir

it Project utilizes the experiences reflected in the traditions of Africa to explore the lives of traditional societies throughout time and provide a series of arts-based challenges and learning opportunities. Participants: Youth ages 8-18,
Regions: Broward and Miami Dade Counties, Florida

Program Dates: August 2022 -January 2024

Drumz Ova Gunz Youth will have multiple opportunities to present their talents. Confirmed presentations to date:

• Calle Ocho Festival (Spring 2023)
• London Marching Band Competition (June 2023)
• DanceAfrica Miami (August 2023)
• Broward Miami Carnival (October 2023)
• Kwanzaa Gala (December 2023)
• Waaw! African Cultural Exhibition & Competition (January 2024)
