Transcendental Meditation® (TM) provides a potential means by which to reduce the physical and emotional burden of family, domestic and sexual violence. This simple, effortless relaxation technique has been demonstrated in a number of studies to be effective in reducing perceived stress, anxiety and depressionas well as improving self-efficacy and mental and physical well-being. The American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, and American Medical Association released their 2025 guidelines for the treatment of high blood pressure (HBP) in adults.
National practice guidelines recommend Transcendental Meditation as an evidence-based lifestyle modification to lower blood pressure and prevent cardiovascular events and mortality.
The joint committee concluded that TM has the strongest and most consistent body of scientific evidence among stress-reducing methods for High Blood Pressure.
Accordingly, it was the only meditation technique singled out for recommendation. Other approaches, such as device-guided breathing and yoga, were included but noted to have lower levels of supporting evidence.

Join us for the first official World Meditation Day on Dec. 21 https://worldmeditationday.world/
All 193 member states of the UN General Assembly have unanimously proclaimed 21 December 2024 to be the very first “World Meditation Day.”
This first global meditation will begin in New Zealand at 8:00 AM. An hour later, in the next time zone to the west, others will begin their morning meditation. And so on around the world. Then, at 5:00 PM, the world’s meditators will follow the same procedure in beginning their afternoon meditation. By including both morning and evening meditations on 21 December and moving westward hour by hour with the Sun, ‘World Meditation Day’ will actually last for 32 ½ hours, concluding after 5:00 PM in Hawaii.
“Whatever your meditation practice, we urge you to join. Governments, spiritual leaders, practitioners of any meditation practice—all are invited to participate. And please share this with your friends and on your social media.

In one of my favorite talks from Maharishi, he explained that if we speak negatively about someone else or share with other others bad things that someone else has done, or their negative qualities, we take on the karma of that person’s negative actions just as if we had done them ourselves.
So, even in these contentious times, it’s important not to speak ill of anybody else. Find one quality of that person and let that be what you have your attention on. Make it a game; see how many good qualities you can find even in someone who you don’t like. It will be uplifting for you and for the universe. And it will save you from sharing in the karma of that other person, whoever it might be…
