XplorMor

XplorMor Exploration • Conservation • Science • Culture Welcome to XplorMor on Facebook! Officially designated and recognized as a non-profit in October 2017.

XplorMor International is a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit exploring our planet and advancing conservation through field research, biodiversity documentation, and heritage expeditions—sharing Earth’s wonders. XplorMor International Incorporated is a 501(c)3 non-profit focused on projects with a societal benefit and outstanding universal value. XMI organizes, participates and supports scientific, archaeo

logical and cultural projects, fundraisers and fieldwork expeditions around the world. Expeditions created and lead by XMI aim to locate, identify and record, both by scientific documentation and photographic media, unique and often never before observed aspects of the natural world and social human history. Projects and fundraisers organized by XMI focus on opportunities to preserve and conserve our planet and to build fellowship between cultures. Last year XMI traversed the Republic of Cuba to aid biologists from the University of Georgia and professors from the University of Havana with documenting Cuban insects. XplorMor organized the entire journey including an extensive itinerary. Currently the Team is exploring and photographing World Heritage Sites in Southeast Asia, and promoting a solar power project for an elementary school at Run Ta Ek Eco Village in rural Cambodia to aid in decreasing the human impact on Angkor Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World heritage Site. XMI wishes to inspire others to explore, discover, photograph, protect and share! www.xplormor.com

✨🌎Earth Day isn’t just about one day

It’s in the quiet moments—
looking closer,
paying attention,
learning how everything connects.

But it doesn’t end there.

The more we understand,
the more we realize what’s at stake—
and the power we have to shape what comes next.

Every action, every observation, every choice
becomes part of something larger.

Not everything reveals itself at first glance.

Some details ask you to slow down—
to look closer.

This is the larval stage of Eudesmia menea—the lunar eudesmia,
a lichen moth (tribe Lithosiini) found from the southern United States through Central and South America.

Species like this play quiet but important roles in the ecosystems they inhabit—woven into food webs and ecological balance in ways we’re only beginning to fully understand.

Fieldwork doesn’t always look like what people expect.

Sometimes it’s standing in the dark—waiting for something small to appear.
Sometimes it’s getting low to the ground, adjusting light, watching closely.
Sometimes it’s quiet, patient work—documenting what most people may never see.

These moments matter.

They’re how we begin to understand the species, behaviors, and ecosystems that shape the world around us—often hidden in plain sight.

Step off the road—
and everything changes.

Breathe.

The air thickens.
The sounds shift.
The path narrows.

You stop scanning the distance—
and start noticing what’s right in front of you.

This is where observation sharpens—
and where the smallest details begin to matter.

From forests in Canada to wetlands in Florida,
to ancient temples in Cambodia—
and beyond,
each place shifts how you move
and what you begin to notice.

There are still so many stories to share—
from places we’ve stood,
and from moments we almost missed.

We’re beginning to weave them together here—
through exploration, fieldwork, and the paths between.

One piece at a time.

Not in order.
Not all at once.

But as they connect.

More soon.

When was the last time something truly stopped you?

Not just a glance—
but a moment that made you pause… and look closer.

That’s where it begins.

Not with expertise.
Not with equipment.

Just attention.

They’re everywhere—
if we’re willing to notice.

Wood storks (Mycteria americana)—Everglades National Park.
Removed from the U.S. Endangered Species Act in Feb 2026 after decades of recovery.

Not every journey is about going somewhere new.

Some are about learning how to see.

Over time, what started as exploration became something more—
a way of documenting and understanding what’s often overlooked.

From field notes to tiny subjects, each moment is part of a larger story.

This is why XplorMor exists.

Tiny faces of the wild.

🐝 This is Crotch’s bumble bee (Bombus crotchii), a native California pollinator listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List.

Native bees like this play an essential role in pollinating wild plants and crops across California’s landscapes.

Photographed in Los Padres National Forest, California.

Moments like this are why we spend so much time looking closely at the small lives around us.

Some places stay with you long after the journey ends.

This moment was captured along the Hall of Mosses Trail in Olympic National Park. Walking through that rainforest felt like stepping into another world 🌱✨

There are landscapes around the world that leave a quiet imprint—places where the air feels different, the light moves slowly, and for a moment you feel deeply connected to the Earth.

Exploration has taken us to many remarkable places over the years, and reopening these field journals is bringing those memories back to life.

Where in the world has a place left a lasting impression on you?

It’s been a little while since we’ve shared regularly here—so hello again from XplorMor 👋🌎

Over the years Bryan and I have explored remote landscapes, documented biodiversity, and taken part in conservation and cultural heritage projects around the world.

This photo was taken during one of our visits to Tikal in Guatemala, one of the most remarkable ancient Maya cities rising above the rainforest canopy.

We’re excited to begin sharing more moments from the field again.

If you’ve followed along with us over the years—or are just discovering XplorMor—we’d love to hear where you are joining us from.
