This year, over 100 high school students across Miami Dade and Broward Counties participated in Academic WorldQuest 2026 at Florida International University in partnership with the FIU Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs.
Miami Beach Senior High School placed 1st, followed by Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High School in 2nd. Tied for 3rd were School for Advanced Studies-Wolfson; and Miami Beach Senior High - Team 2.
Following Beach High's victory in the local competition, students London Bruni, Jonathan Toledo, Vander Lee, and Chase Goldberg, as well as their teacher Russ Rywell, traveled to Washington D.C. to compete in the national championship—placing 2nd in the entire country.
While in Washington, with the support of the World Affairs Councils of America, the students also participated in a foreign policy study visit and meetings with the Embassy of Australia, Embassy of the State of Qatar, Inter-American Development Bank, and United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.
