The Key Clubhouse of South Florida

The Key Clubhouse of South Florida Key Clubhouse is a nonprofit organization that helps people with mental illness recover through work. Membership in the Clubhouse is voluntary and free.

The Key Clubhouse of South Florida offers free rehabilitation and employment services to adults living with serious mental illness in Miami-Dade County. It is accredited with Clubhouse International, a network of more than 330 Clubhouses around the world that follow an internationally acclaimed program that helps people with mental illness reintegrate into the community. The Clubhouse offers pre-employment training, employment placement, a Wellness Program, assistance in accessing support services in the community, and low-cost breakfasts and lunches. Members participate in the operations of the Clubhouse by working side-by-side with trained staff in our Culinary and Business Units. Our History

The Key Clubhouse of South Florida organization was founded in 2008 by a grassroots group of family members and a young consumer. The group opened the doors of The Key Clubhouse in July 2010 in downtown Miami to its first 10 members. In 2013, the Clubhouse moved to the Dr. Barbara Carey-Shuler supportive housing complex, where it is now located.

Give Miami Day is more than a day to give. It’s a day for our Miami community to come together and invest in the people and organizations making a difference right here at home.

For Key Clubhouse, your support helps members build skills, find meaningful employment, gain independence, and unlock their keys to recovery.

Last year, our community showed up in a BIG way, helping Key Clubhouse raise $81,600 to support our members and our mission. 🙌

Now, we’re getting ready to do it again!

A powerful reminder to choose health! 🚭

Yesterday, during our Smoking Cessation Class, our instructor showed our members the difference between a lung from someone who smoked for 10 years and one from a non-smoker.

Seeing the difference firsthand was eye-opening and a great reminder of why choosing a smoke-free lifestyle matters. 💚

ONE WEEK BACK HOME 🩵🔑

Last week, after seven challenging weeks away, The Key Clubhouse of South Florida officially returned to our home at Northside Commons.

Getting back to our regular routines has been a process, but it has been so good to see our members and staff back together, reconnecting, working side by side, and bringing the Clubhouse back to life. The past seven weeks reminded us just how strong our community can be. While the flood temporarily changed where we worked, it never stopped us from being a Clubhouse.

Our members and staff continued reaching out, supporting one another, working toward employment goals, preparing for our return, and finding ways to keep our community connected. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped us through the disruption! From our members and staff to our Board and Carrfour Supportive Housing, whose support helped make our return possible.

Now, we’re settling back into our Work-Ordered Day, our routines, and most importantly, our community. It’s good to be back 🏠🩵🫂

Hard work pays off! 💙

After our clubhouse was flooded, this incredible group never gave up. They stayed loyal, worked tirelessly, and helped us every step of the way as we reopen our clubhouse.

To celebrate their dedication and all of their hard work, we treated them to a well-deserved buffet. It was a small way to say thank you for their commitment, teamwork, and unwavering support.

We are so grateful for each and every one of you. Together, we proved that when a community comes together, there's nothing we can't overcome! 💪🏡❤️
