Join us on Sunday, Feb. 8 for our monthly meeting with special guest Amanda Prieto with !
In 2021, our county commissioners approved a plan to develop 168 acres at the old Calusa Golf Course. In the 15 years since it was a golf course, Mother Nature reclaimed part of the land as a bird rookery for tri-colored herons, egrets, anhinga, and other wildlife. The plan was put on hold, but has now made it back on the agenda for the commissioners to decide what happens next, and how much protection will be given to the wildlife.
Amanda Prieto has been working on protecting the green space in this neighborhood for years, and will be speaking about the current status of the property and what WE can do to protect this ‘suburban wild space’. She is passionate about empowering communities to shape development outcomes that balance growth, environmental protection, and long-term quality of life.
This meeting is also our social time together, those who want to participate, please bring a plant-based dish to share with others for dinner at 5pm before the meeting begins at 6pm. RSVP at the link in the bio!
