An OPP jacket for her daughter. A spot on this year’s GAPO judging team for her mom. Both part of our OPP family. 💛🥹

Watching these two open her daughter’s jacket together means so much to us. And now, as a teacher and Judge Ambassador for the Great American Patch Off, this MOM is bringing that encouragement into her own CLASSROOM.

Her students will create original patch designs, with winning designs turned into real embroidered patches for jackets given to other kids battling cancer... just like her daughter! She’s getting to share with her students something that means so much to her own family. 💛

That’s the community we love getting to build... families, teachers, students parents, and kids... our community finding ways to show up for one another. Every child who participates has the opportunity to remind another child that someone is thinking of them and cheering them on.

Want your kids to be part of it? Join the Great American Patch Off and create a little encouragement for another child. 🎨🎗️

September is loud for a reason. 💛

It's the one month the whole world turns its attention to pediatric cancer at the same time. Feeds fill up. Stories get shared. People who've never heard of a clinical trial for kids suddenly know one exists.

That's the power of this month. Not one voice, one story, one moment… thousands of them, all at once, impossible to scroll past.

And every share, every post, every person who stops to pay attention is doing something real.

Because visibility isn't the finish line. It's what starts the conversation. And conversations are what turn into action, and action is what actually changes things for these kids.

So yes, September matters. Let's make it count. 💛

September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month. 🎗️💛

And we’re kicking off Day 1 with something that started in one school last year… and has grown into something bigger than we ever imagined.

So… what exactly is the Great American Patch Off? 🇺🇸🎨

GAPO is a national art contest created by the Oliver Patch Project that gives kids the opportunity to use their creativity to encourage other kids battling cancer.

Last year, we piloted the program at a school in Miami. This year, we’ve taken it nationwide… with more than 600 teachers already getting involved, an incredible lineup of celebrity judges, and kids across the country creating art with a purpose.

Students will create their own original patch designs, and winning designs selected by our judges will actually be turned into REAL embroidered patches that will go onto OPP jackets given to kids battling cancer. 🥹

But here’s something we really want you to know…

You do NOT have to be a classroom teacher to participate.

Teachers, librarians, homeschool families, child life specialists, student-led clubs, youth groups, sports teams, coaches, after-school programs… if you have kids who want to create and encourage other kids, GAPO is for you.

We built optional activities around national education standards so teachers can easily bring GAPO into their classrooms, but at its heart, this is much bigger than a lesson plan.

It’s kids using what they have to love other kids well.

Their creativity.
Their ideas.
Their gifts.
Their encouragement.

Pediatric cancer is hard. It can be scary, isolating, and incredibly unfair.

We can’t take all of that away.

But we CAN keep building a community around these kids that reminds them they are seen, celebrated, encouraged, and never fighting alone.

That’s why programs like the Great American Patch Off exist. 💛

And this September, we’re inviting kids everywhere to pick up a pencil, marker, crayon, paintbrush… whatever they’ve got… and CREATE FOR A CAUSE. 🎨

The Great American Patch Off is officially underway.

Let’s make some patches. 🇺🇸💛🎗️

Meet the next member of our Great American Patch-Off National Judging Panel: Jonathan Alsheimer! 🎨💛

Known as Mr. A, he is an educator and speaker who encourages teachers and students to believe in what is possible inside and outside the classroom.

We are so excited to have his energy and heart on this year’s judging panel as we celebrate student artwork created to encourage children and young adults battling cancer.

Help us welcome to the Great American Patch-Off! ✨

Tomorrow, the 2026 Great American Patch-Off officially begins! 🎨💛

Before students begin creating, we want them to understand the heart behind their artwork... who Oliver Patch Project serves, why we use jackets and patches, and how one student’s idea can become a meaningful source of encouragement for a child or young adult battling cancer.

This virtual tour is the first stop in our optional GAPO curriculum, helping teachers see where their students' creativity could go and the difference their art can make.

More than 550 teachers have already signed up to participate this year, which means thousands of students across the country will soon be creating with kindness, empathy, and purpose.

TOMORROW, the creating begins. We cannot wait to see what your students design!

Meet our next Great American Patch-Off Teacher Ambassador Judge, Ali Armstrong! 🎨💛

As a former teacher who has since stepped out of the classroom to pursue her art, Ali brings the perfect blend of education and creativity to our judging panel. She understands the heart students put into their work and how art can communicate a meaningful message, help someone feel seen, and bring an idea to life.

We are excited to have her perspective as we search for designs that will become encouraging patches for children and young adults battling cancer.

A little charm with a whole lot of purpose. 💛

Did you know you can find Croc charms featuring some of your favorite OPP characters in our Purpose Purpose Shop?

They’re a fun way to personalize your shoes, represent the OPP mission, and help us continue encouraging children and young adults battling cancer.

Every Purpose Purpose Shop purchase goes directly back into our programs... helping us provide patches, jackets, totes, and meaningful encouragement to our OPP kids at no cost to their families.

Add a little OPP to every step while helping us make a difference, one charm at a time.

That smile. This is why we do what we do. 💛

After receiving this photo, Miriam's mom shared:

“We are so grateful for such a sweet and thoughtful program. Thank you for loving on our girl!”

She also told us how happy her older brother was to be included in our Sibling Program. 🥹

These jackets and patches may seem like small things, but to our Warriors and their families, they are reminders that people are thinking about them, cheering for them, and walking alongside them.

We are so honored to love on Miriam and welcome her and her brother into the Oliver Patch Project family. ❤️
