Green Periods

Green Periods Green Periods is an initiative to encourage the use of reusable menstrual products that are good for you, your wallet and the environment.

We are a group of menstruators who have experienced the health, economic and ecological benefits of using sustainable menstrual products. A used menstrual pad is the last thing anyone would want to encounter at the beach. This pad washed up out of the ocean at a small beach in Florida. Menstrual products are the 5th most common waste items found on beaches in Europe. Once in water streams, plastic based single-use products would never biodegrade and add to the serious microplastic problem in the environment.

Did you know that reusable products like cups and discs are great for swimming and the beach? Have you made the switch to reusables yet?

Happy Menstrual Hygiene Day! This MH Day, we raise our cups to the humble menstrual cup. It was new, sparkly clear, and aged into this beautiful wine color through 11 years of use. 🍷

It’s stained but definitely not dirty or impure. It might look unpleasant to an untrained eye, yet it serves its purpose cycle after cycle across the world - in the water, while walking, sleeping, or dancing.

Cheers to the trusty menstrual cup that started our Green Periods journey. Do you use the cup? Let us know in the comments. If not, tell us why not.

Green Periods is on a journey to tackle the economic, ecological, and health impacts of menstruation for people, planet, and the wallet.

Every day is MH Day for 800 million people that have their period on any given day around the world.
