🏘️To Promote Bird Health & Wellness…

Mission Wild Bird Hospital is seeking CARING & ENGAGING volunteers to help with rescuing and transporting birds.

📢Event Info: Most of the patients that come to the Mission Wild Bird Hospital are brought to us from the public, but occasionally we need to go out to pick up a bird.

Role: Birds are already in a box waiting for pickup, but sometimes they still need to be caught and contained. Rescue is not a requirement to be a transporter, if you do not feel comfortable or are not physically able to contain a bird, we will only call you for birds that are already contained.

Transport Range: Our transport range is MM70 to MM106, and we have one mainland pickup point at Everglades Outpost in Homestead. Boats, kayaks, and jet skis are also useful for water rescues.

Provisions: Transporters are provided with a towel/sheet to put in their cars. Additionally, rescuers are provided with a crate, towels, gloves, and other PPE required for certain species of birds.

Help Handle Bird Emergencies (Rescuing and/or transporting injured wild birds)

REQUIREMENT:
Volunteers MUST have a reliable, safe personal vehicle, valid U.S driver's license, and a clean driving record.

*IMPORTANT:
-All volunteers MUST attend a volunteer orientation before beginning their position. Orientations are scheduled MONTHLY.

📢Event Info: Dolphin Research Center is a not-for-profit education and research facility that is home to a colony of bottlenose dolphins and sea lions.

WHAT WE DO: Dolphin Research Center remains dedicated to teaching, learning, and caring for marine mammals and the environment we share.

HOW WE SERVE: We accomplish this through a variety of public education programs and non-invasive research projects, and by active involvement with the marine mammal care community throughout the world.

VOLUNTEER INTERNSHIP: We offer an Internship Program, involving concentration in specific departments, normally last 14 to 18 weeks, and are held throughout the year.

-Atmosphere: DRC offers a casual work atmosphere with Friendly & Appreciative staff.
-Networking: Volunteers can make many new international friends who share interest in the environment/marine mammals.

-Facility Maintenance Volunteers: performing trash collection, recycling, seaweed removal and fence cleaning, painting and landscaping

-Administrative Project Volunteer: participating in projects like-computer data entry and preparation of bulk mailings.

9-11am Morning Activities: Volunteers are needed to assist with morning activities (ex. morning walks, cognitive activities, such as puzzles, sorting, coloring. And life skills, such as folding laundry, word comprehension skills.

11am-1pm Lunch Assistance: Helping with lunch, serving and accompanying clients while eating. Followed by assistance brushing teeth and washing hands and face.

1-2pm Cognitive Activities: Assistance with cognitive activities or cleaning their area, finishing projects, watching a movie, reading a story

2-3pm Social Hour: Clients will socialize with peers or join a fitness class which is scheduled 3 days/week.

Important Information
-After Lunch: Fun Activities can be planned (ex. mini golf, basketball, corn hole, ball tossing)
-Time Commitment: Suggested 2 hour shifts (will welcome any time-Mornings are most urgent time blocks to fill)
-Background Check & Training: All volunteers serving more than 10 hours/month require a Level 2 Background Check & HIPPA Training (both provided)
