We're bringing back one of our most beloved
series - and we're starting with her. đź’™
March is Women's History Month. And in a
moment when the world is flattening Cuban
Americans into one story, we can think of no
better way to kick off this series again than
with Reyna Noriega - Afro-Cuban artist,
Cuban-Bahamian American, and a reminder
of everything our community actually is.
Reyna's work has appeared on billboards in
New York and on t-shirts at Old Navy. But
it's her words that stay with us:
"I carry my identities with pride and with
a sense of responsibility. They have afforded
me the ability to see a wide range of views
and relatability to various groups of people —
so I'm sure to use my voice responsibly."
If you've been following us for a while,
you may remember Reyna from our original
Living in the Hyphen series. We're honored
to share her story again — because it's more
relevant today than ever.
We are Afro-Cuban. Cuban-Bahamian. Artists,
dreamers, and organizers. We are not a monolith.
🌸 This is Living in the Hyphen — and it's back.
Do you have a story to tell? We want to hear
it. Submit yours at cubanospalante.com
