1980 photo of the Mayor's II jewelry store in the lower level of Omni Mall on Biscayne Blvd. The Store opened in 1977. Mayor's II was a smaller version of the other Mayor's located throughout Florida. It featured spectacular one of a kind jewelry. There was a regular Mayor's in the upper level of the Omni Mall. In 1978 a robber handcuffed a clerk in the Mayor's II and made off with $250,000 in jewelry. He was caught a few months later in Monte Carlo and returned to Miami where he was represented by non other than former State Attorney Richard Gerstein.

Late 1925 photo of Miami's new Municipal Docks. Due to the "undreamed of activity
in development and construction which has swept over the city" Miami's harbor congestion was said to be the worst on the Atlantic coast. The city dredge Manetto (see photo in the comments section of this post.) was used to create land for the expanded docks. Note the Miami News Tower on Biscayne Boulevard. Romer photo.
