It's been a year since the untimely passing of beloved Haitian musician Mikaben. Though he is no longer with us physically, his spirit lives on through his music which brought joy and inspiration to so many.
Mikaben was more than just a talented artist - he was a symbol of hope and positivity for the Haitian people. Despite the challenges the country faced, he always sang with optimism about Haiti's future. His songs reminded us there are still so many reasons to celebrate Haitian culture and heritage.
He shared a deep, enduring love for Haiti with our own founder, Romel Joseph, who passed away 8 years ago. Both devoted their lives to making a positive impact in their beloved country through their artistic gifts.
As we reflect on this somber anniversary, our thoughts are with Mikaben's family and loved ones. We understand the profound pain of losing someone so cherished. But it is these selfless, devoted role models like Mikaben and Romel that we choose to honor by continuing their legacies.
Though we lost two bright lights, their music and message will live on. We celebrate artists like them who give so much to uplift others. Mikaben and Romel made Haiti proud - their passion for their homeland inspires our work today and renews our hope for Haiti's beautiful future.
May their memories be blessings.
“We’ve lived the departure of Mika with a courage that we could not have imagined.”
