This week, we proudly celebrated our Preschool Moving Up Ceremony, marking an exciting milestone for our youngest learners. As a preschool that opened just two years ago with a vision of creating a warm, nurturing, and joyful community, it was incredibly meaningful to see that dream come to life through the growth of our children.

Throughout the year, our preschoolers learned, explored, built friendships, and gained confidence as they prepared for their next adventures. We are grateful to our families for their partnership and trust, and to our dedicated teachers for the care, creativity, and love they bring each day.

Congratulations to all of our graduates and students moving up—we are so proud of you and can't wait to see all that you accomplish!

Last Sunday, the Galbut Family Miami Beach JCC welcomed the community for a special morning with Ritchie Torres, Congressman representing the Bronx, in conversation with Brooke Goldstein, founder and executive director of The Lawfare Project. Their discussion focused on current issues, fighting antisemitism, and supporting the Jewish community, followed by audience questions. This event was made possible by the generous support of the Mollie Zweig Foundation for Arts, Culture and Ideas at the Miami Beach JCC.

Miami Beach JCC Annual Board Meeting 2026

The Miami Beach JCC held its Annual Board Meeting this past week, bringing together leadership, supporters, and community members for an evening that celebrated both achievement and forward momentum. We extend sincere appreciation to the longstanding Board members completing their terms—Daniel Hoffman, Randi Lawrence, and Marc Lehmann—whose dedication and service have contributed significantly to the organization’s growth. We are also pleased to welcome our newest Board members—Michelle Matz, Lisa Rosenblatt, and Jason Savitz—along with Teen Board Members Gabrielle Heckler and Emma Schottenstein, whose involvement reflects the strength of our emerging leaders.

During the meeting, the 2026–27 MBJCC Officers were confirmed: Michelle Ben‑Aviv, Chair of the Board; Sam Sheldon, Treasurer; Heather Pachter, Secretary; and Vice Chairs Adam Bergman, Mara Geronemus, and Pam Wolfson. The evening featured the presentation of the 2026 Awards, recognizing individuals whose contributions exemplify leadership, commitment, and community impact. Honorees included Mara Geronemus, “Todah Rabah” Leadership Award; Gabrielle Heckler, “Unleash Your Awesome” Award; and Chief Wayne Jones, MBPD, Special Community Recognition.

The MBJCC proudly celebrated significant Staff Milestones, honoring Nataly Yusim, COO (15 Years) and Paul Frishman, CEO (10 Years) for their longstanding dedication and leadership. In addition, the organization recognized its Families of the Year across key program areas: The Goldberg Family (Basketball), The Kaplan Family (Football), The Sfarad Family (Soccer), The Strauss Family (Aquatics), and The Binni Family (Gymnastics).

The evening highlighted the strength and unity of the MBJCC community, honoring those who have shaped its past, welcoming those who will guide its future, and reaffirming the organization’s commitment to excellence, service, and community engagement.
