The Miami Beach Jewish Community Center (JCC) is currently building it’s new 35,000 square-foot facility located on Pine Tree Drive. The JCC’s new facility will serve as an essential community resource offering opportunities to enrich the lives of families, adults, teens, children and seniors seeking vibrant programs and services in a unique and inclusive environment. The new facility will allow us to provide expanded programming, new and improved spaces for sports and recreation, and a comfortable gathering space where the Miami Beach Jewish community can connect. The Miami Beach JCC welcomed award-winning Israeli screenwriter and director Ofir Raul Graizer as a special guest this week. The visit began with a Lunch & Learn featuring a conversation with Igor Shteyrenberg, Executive Director of the Miami Jewish Film Festival and Ofir offering attendees an opportunity to hear about his work and perspective on Israeli cinema.

On Thursday evening, the community gathered for a screening of America, the Miami Jewish Film Festival Critics’ Choice Award-winning film, followed by a talkback discussion.

The MBJCC’s Israeli Film Series is generously sponsored by South Pointe Tavern and supported by the Miami Jewish Film Festival.

On October 8, the Miami Beach JCC commemorated October 7 with the opening of the Photography exhibit by Master Sergeant S in the Schwartz-Jacobs Family Gallery, followed by a meaningful conversation with IDF Commando veteran Eli Wininger and his army teammate, Master Sergeant S.

The evening offered a firsthand perspective on their service in Gaza, the events of October 7, and the importance of remembrance. Wininger, a marathon runner in honor of the Bibas family and an activist, shared his experiences and reflections on Jewish resilience, while Master Sergeant S's photography provided another way to connect with the stories and experiences behind the events.

As part of the Plotkin Family Am Yisrael Chai Series, the program honored the fallen and survivors of October 7 while bringing the community together to reflect on the strength and resilience of the Jewish people.

An entertaining and inspiring evening was had by all with special guest, Alicia Jo Rabins for a conversation about her memoir, When We’re Born We Forget Everything, and a musical performance. Alicia is a writer, Feminist Torah Teacher, Rabbi and musician.



Her appearance was part of the Stories We Share: A Celebration of Jewish Voices initiative of the Miami Book Fair’s Stacey and Eric Mindich Fund for Jewish Stories.
