Miami Beach Stage Door Youth Company
Instructor Bios:

Shane Tanner – Director, Instructor
Shane has been a professional, working actor for almost twenty years. He has performed all over the country and in the United Kingdom, both on national tours and in various regional productions. Since discovering theater during his years as an enlisted soldier in the U.S. Army, he has become passionate about sharing the joys and wonders of the stage with young performers. As an actor in the National Touring Company of Oliver!, he became an instructor, mentor, friend and chaperone to each of the 25 child-actors in the cast. He has been involved in Educational Theater Outreach for over a decade and has performed for young audiences throughout the state of Florida, most recently as the lead role in ROCK ODYSSEY at the Adrienne Arsht Center, which was seen by nearly 30,000 students in Miami-Dade. He has been responsible for hundreds of students and campers during his time at Hollywood Playhouse (Hollywood, FL), Riverside Theater (Jacksonville, FL), as Camp Director for Next Stop Broadway (Coral Springs, FL), and as Director of the Creative Camps program at Miami Childrens Theater (Kendall and Miami Beach, FL). He believes in "leading by example" and recognizes that every scenario in the world of theater offers a unique learning opportunity to all involved: from character discovery, staging and movement, to voice technique, camaraderie, and theater etiquette. He believes that theater should be an endless source of discovery for young performers, and knows that encouragement, experience, practical knowledge and personal investment are the greatest tools in helping a young person achieve their full potential, both on stage and in life. Shane is a multiple-award winning actor and multiple Carbonell nominee. He has appeared at many theaters in the region, including Actors' Playhouse (1776, Les Miserables, Johnny Guitar, The Full Monty), Stage Door Theater (Parade, A Little Night Music, Crazy for You, Mack & Mabel – 2011 Carbonell Winner Best Production of a Musical), Caldwell Theater Co. (She Loves Me, Sunday in the Park with George, The Secret Garden, Into the Woods), Palm Beach Dramaworks (CAMELOT in Concert) and Mosaic Theater (The Irish Curse -2011 Silver Palm Recipient). Amy has worked closely with the production team of South Florida’s G4 on their productions of Motherhood and Respect. NYC credits include: Sunday in the Park with George (Dot), The Miracle Worker (Kate Keller) – directed by Arthur Penn, Body Language (Mary – MITF Best Actress Award), and Metamorphoses (Alcyone). Amy has been an adjunct faculty member at many performance schools in the region and has directed for Miami Childrens Theater, Stage Door Theatre in VA, and Rising Stars in NYC. Having worked professionally as a nanny in NYC and Philadelphia, Amy understands the value of discipline, but allows the importance of expression and self-discovery. She passionately believes that her work with young people both enhances and changes lives and will help keep the performing arts vibrant, strong, and relevant.

Sally Bondi – Administrator, Instructor
Sally has been in Show Business for over forty years, doing musicals and stage plays. She has also been seen on television, films, and heard on many voice-over reels all over the world. Her first love is “paying it forward”, and teaching the next generation of performers. She loves children of all ages (she has four of her own!) - and loves to see them find creative power within themselves. Not only was she instrumental to the classes, rehearsals and performances for last year’s camp in Miami Beach, but she also does private coaching to children of all ages. It’s with this enthusiasm that she returns with her favorite teaching team to the Byron Carlyle for two glorious summer sessions!! The discoveries made last year, the fun that was had creating a safe and wonderful space for the children to explore and learn about themselves and others, will be built upon this year with the same unsurpassed team - Shane Tanner, Amy Brennan, Terrence Brown, and Sally Bondi. Although her expertise is on the stage, she is eager to create the environment of love and discipline that is necessary to any creative process (or any process, as parents already know!). This is not just a job for Sally - it’s a passion. (And get ready for Sock Puppet Theater Season 2!)

This has not been in business in ten years. I didn’t orchestrate putting this together. And that gal skipped town. It’s been in my name because I taught there and had so much success. But we were only open for two years. I can’t take this down because I didn’t start it. I’m sorry for false advertising. Sally Bondi
