We are heartbroken by the passing of Kal Abdallah, our beloved Executive Chef, the creative force behind A Fish Called Avalon for 16 years. In addition to being an extraordinary talent in the kitchen, Chef Kal was a mentor, a leader and a cherished friend to so many.
He was deeply loved by our staff, loyal patrons and everyone fortunate enough to know him. His warmth, generosity and passion for hospitality created a sense of family within our restaurant, the creative spirit behind so many memorable meals and moments.
A native of the Syrian island of Arwad, Chef Kal grew up surrounded by the eastern Mediterranean’s abundance of fresh fish, seafood, and organically grown fruits and vegetables — influences that shaped both his passion for food and his extraordinary culinary vision. His masterful dishes were inspired by his multinational background, travels and life experiences. Every plate that left his kitchen reflected not only exceptional talent, but also heart, creativity and soul.
We are grateful for the time, talent and love Chef Kal shared with our team and community. His legacy will forever remain part of A Fish Called Avalon.
