On May 20, 2026, Seaworthy Collective hosted the 2026 Thriving Ocean Innovations Startup Showcase at Miami, bringing together innovators, founders, partners, and ocean advocates for an evening dedicated to ocean impact and BlueTech innovation.

Building on the momentum of past showcases, this year’s event featured live startup pitches from emerging ocean entrepreneurs, conversations around ocean data solutions powered through our NOAA partnership, and meaningful connections across the growing Blue Economy ecosystem. From climate resilience to cutting-edge marine technologies, the night highlighted the incredible work being done to create a healthier, more sustainable future for our oceans.

Thank you to everyone who attended, supported our founders, and continues to champion innovation, collaboration, and community in advancing ocean change. Here is a first look at some of the photos.

Stay tuned for more!

Over the past several weeks, we have introduced the seven startups in this cohort, each developing solutions in ocean innovation, climate resilience, and sustainability. We are concluding our Cohort 7 founder spotlights with Project Neptune.

What inspired you to start this company?
It’s surprisingly difficult to know whether ocean water is safe before surfing or swimming. We realized that most water quality information is outdated or hard to access, even in places where millions of people recreate in the ocean.

How did you two meet?
I met Max through my sister in 2022. Right before he got really sick from the ocean. I saw him go through it all, and at the time, I was running my own health supplement business. After Max recovered, we would chat about how this happened and how it could’ve been prevented.
Join us next week, May 20, to meet Project Neptune and the other amazing startups, connect with founders, investors, partners, and the broader BlueTech community!

Our Showcase is next week, and this week we’re introducing the final two startups that make up our incredible Cohort 7!

First up: Marnova, founded by Andrew B. and Dr. Forest Rohwer.

Meet the full Cohort 7 lineup in person at next week’s Showcase. The event is free, but registration is required.

What inspired you to start this company?
I was inspired to create this company back when I first started getting involved in academia. I realized that there was so much great research being published, but not actually being utilized. Very often in discussion sections people write, “we envision stakeholders will use this research…,” but many times it ends up sitting on a shelf. Ever since that experience, I’ve been inspired to be one of the people who takes innovative research and turns it into scalable solutions to improve the climate.

How did you two meet?
While Forest and I aren’t traditional co-founders, we met because I came out to SDSU for graduate school under his advisement. I completed my master’s thesis with him, which focused on developing and patenting a novel nature-based way to sequester carbon in the ocean.

Seaworthy Collective is bringing our work to Tampa Bay, and we’re using the evening to officially launch that effort, supported by JPMorganChase.

Together, we’re rolling up our sleeves to build a more resilient coastal economy across Pinellas, Pasco, and Hillsborough counties, supporting the entrepreneurs, industries, and communities making it happen. Think: seafood and fisheries, coastal infrastructure, local manufacturing, or anyone who simply loves the Bay and wants to see it thrive.

Expect locally caught seafood, waterfront views, and real conversation with business leaders, community partners, and regional officials who are shaping what’s next for Tampa Bay’s coast.

Hosted by Seaworthy Collective, supported by JPMorganChase.

May 6, 2026 · 5–8 PM Rusty Bellies Waterfront Grill 937 Dodecanese Blvd, Tarpon Springs, FL

Dinner and drinks will be served throughout the evening.

Parking: Rusty Bellies has standard and handicap-accessible parking right in front of the restaurant. In addition, they have a large overflow lot just steps away. Look for the signs south of the restaurant, near the roundabout. Parking is always free for Rusty Bellies and Pelican Point Seafood guests.

Each week we will spotlight one of the innovative startups participating in Cohort 7. To give every company a chance to shine, we’ll be introducing them in alphabetical order over the coming weeks. In this edition, we’re excited to introduce iCatch.

What inspired you to start this company?
Mariah and I both have worked in the fisheries world for a combined 25+ years, primarily to conduct scientific research that helps inform fisheries management and the conservation of fish species. We both greatly value doing research to help needs and problems on the ground. Given this background, we’ve generally been aware of basic information needs in the fisheries space, though we always learn something new from people who work in different contexts and with different fishery species. We’ve known about challenges with fish species identification for a long time, and as soon as the science caught up to the problem, we decided to start developing a solution.

What personal experience or background led you to start this journey as a founder? When I was younger, we had a closet under the stairs. For some reason, my parents graciously let me paint the entire thing to be a submarine - a full driver seat with levers, portholes showing fish, sharks & all. They let me sign my friends in on the wall “sign up list” with a sharpie and perform my scientific - safety briefing before sitting on the floor of the closet and “driving” the submarine around.

Each week we will spotlight one of the innovative startups participating in Cohort 7. To give every company a chance to shine, we’ll be introducing them in alphabetical order over the coming weeks. In this edition, we’re excited to introduce Marianne Dietz, Aspiring Founder of Envara.

What personal experience or background led you to start this journey as a founder?
I’ve spent my career at the intersection of environmental science and intelligence analysis, primarily in support of the Department of Defense and the U.S. Intelligence Community. It’s an unusual path, but it shaped how I approach problems and how I think about turning information into insight that matters.

I focused on translating complex environmental data into something a decision-maker could actually use. The combination of scientific rigor and intelligence tradecraft became the foundation for my work, and over time, I noticed how much potential was going untapped. Environmental data, when properly interpreted, can change how people understand and respond to risk. I also saw that the analytical frameworks I used in intelligence work were rarely applied to environmental data in the same way, which left me asking: what would it look like to build something designed specifically to make it actionable?
