Billy Cannon became LSU Football's first Heisman Trophy winner in 1959 after establishing himself as one of the most electrifying players of his era. Combining elite speed with incredible power, Cannon starred on both sides of the ball and helped lead LSU to a national championship in 1958.

Cannon delivered one of the most iconic plays in college football history against Ole Miss in 1959, returning a punt 89 yards for the game-winning touchdown in a 7–3 victory. The unforgettable moment helped propel him to the Heisman Trophy later that season.

A standout athlete with rare versatility, Cannon went on to a distinguished professional football career before later becoming an orthodontist. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008.

Glenn Davis became Army West Point Football's second Heisman Trophy winner after leading the Black Knights to a 9–0–1 record and a No. 2 national finish in 1946. Known as β€œMr. Outside,” Davis formed one of the greatest backfields in college football history alongside 1945 Heisman Winner Doc Blanchard.

A dynamic and explosive playmaker, Davis averaged an astonishing 11.5 yards per carry as a sophomore and followed it up with another record-setting season in 1945. Across three varsity seasons, he helped lead Army to a 27–0–1 record and three consecutive national championships while setting NCAA and school records for rushing, touchdowns, and all-purpose yards.

Davis finished his career with 59 touchdowns, 354 points, and 5,161 all-purpose yards, while still holding the NCAA career record of 8.3 yards per carry. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1961.
