Sacramento Homeless Union is A Radical Guide's Mutual Aid General Fund recipient for May 2026.

This is a local chapter of the National Union of the Homeless, which was founded in 1985 when federal housing cuts sharply increased homelessness across the country. At its peak, the NUH had roughly 15,000 members across 20 city unions. Crystal Sanchez, who founded the Sacramento chapter from her own experience on Stockton Boulevard, was in the room in 2019 when original NUH founders went to Washington with the Poor People's Campaign to rebuild it.

Sacramento Homeless Union distributes food, clothing, hygiene supplies, and storm protection to people living on the streets of Sacramento. Beyond that, they help people move through a system designed to exhaust them: housing pathways, benefits applications, legal and citation defense, behavioral health referrals, case management, and more. Their mission is direct. They commit their lives to ending homelessness and all poverty. As they put it, true solidarity demands that we create not only the new society but also the new human being.

The Mutual Aid General Fund is 100% passthrough. Every dollar donated goes directly to groups like Sacramento Homeless Union.

Passionate Politics is an intersectional discussion group based in London. They read together in person, no homework required, and work through political texts as a group, learning from each other's different perspectives and positions.

If you've ever wanted a reading group where you don't have to prep in advance and can just show up and think out loud with people, this is worth looking into.

From a recent podcast, A Radical Guide's Jason Bayless, on the moment he decided to build something different.

He watched people organize on stolen time and asked, "What if the movement could actually pay people to do this work?"

Veggies Catering Campaign has been feeding UK movements since 1984. It started as a group of animal rights activists selling veggieburgers outside a McDonald's in Nottingham. It's been at peace marches, anti-corporate mobilisations, bookfairs, anarchist gatherings, and vegan festivals ever since.

The collective is a 100% vegan workers' co-op. No managers, no bosses. Meals are priced to be affordable, and no one is turned away for lack of money. Surplus goes back into campaigns.

In the 1990s, Veggies was one of the few UK organisations reprinting the "What's Wrong with McDonald's" leaflet that prompted the McLibel trial. They kept distributing it anyway. Last year they catered the Total Liberation Gathering in Nottingham, a weekend connecting animal liberation with antifascism and trans solidarity. They also run regular Wednesday pop-up cafes and Sunday brunches at the Sumac Centre in Forest Fields year-round.

A member of Radical Routes. Four decades of movement catering, still going. Find them on Facebook at Veggiescatering.

The CNT in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat is an anarcho-syndicalist union federation operating on a straightforward model: members make decisions directly and on equal footing, with no political directives from above and no paid leadership steering the ship.

Their own words are worth sitting with: solidarity, not charity. Mutual aid that builds equality, not dependence.

Find their full listing on A Radical Guide, and follow their page at cnt.hospitalet for local updates.

We get taught there is no alternative. Vote Democrat or vote Republican. Sign the petition. Call your rep. Stay polite.

That frame is a box. Everything inside it counts as legitimate change. Everything outside gets coded as unacceptable, illegitimate, and dangerous. The training is so consistent that most of us absorb it without noticing.

Moving from Republican to Democrat is not systemic change. The system stays. The binary stays. The box stays.

The work starts when you can name the box and step outside it.

Most people think skinhead culture was born on the far-right. It wasn't.

It started in Britain in the late 1950s and '60s, in the working-class neighborhoods where Caribbean immigrants settled. Brixton. Handsworth. St Paul's. The East End. Caribbean kids and white working-class kids grew up around the same sound systems, the same music, the same streets. The look that became skinhead culture came out of that meeting.

The National Front didn't create that scene. They tried to colonize it. They showed up at shows, recruited at the edges, and worked a minority of the scene thoroughly enough to corrupt how the whole thing looked from the outside.

This piece traces how that happened and how people inside the scene organized against it. Worth reading if you've ever heard a piece of history told only by the people who hijacked it.

The Freie Arbeiterinnen- und Arbeiter-Union in Hannover, Germany describes itself as a "militant base union" that goes beyond traditional labor organizing. They focus on direct workplace defense while building toward collective self-governance and societal transformation.

The FAU Hannover works to expand worker solidarity across organizational, industry, and national boundaries. They see themselves as both an interest organization and a transformation organization, using day-to-day struggles to build momentum for broader social change.
