Georgia news! Anyone know what has come of this nightmare? Praying that it doesn't happen. We don't need more breeding and animal suffering. When will it end?

๐Ÿšจ URGENT COMMUNITY ALERT ๐Ÿšจ

Attention, fellow locals! We have some alarming news that we need to share with you all. Brace yourselves, because there are plans to construct the largest monkey breeding warehouse in the entire United States, right here in our very own neighboring Bainbridge, GA!

Tonight, there is a crucial city council meeting at 6:30 in Bainbridge at 101 South Broad St. We cannot stress enough how vital it is for all of us, especially those in the Bainbridge area, to attend! This is an issue of utmost importance, and we need your support!

Ever since we first learned about the potential primate breeding facility in Bainbridge, our concerns have only grown. But the reality is even worse than we initially thought. There are countless questions that arise from this proposal, along with so many potential problems, think of the inevitable animal suffering. As members of this community, we believe it is essential to discuss this matter with all of you. We urge all our followers to join us in voicing our concerns!

The proposed facility is targeting land less than half a mile from the Flint River, which not only provides water for crop irrigation for local farmers but also flows into the Gulf of Mexico. If this project moves forward, it could have devastating consequences:

๐ŸŒ Massive environmental impact on our local ecosystem
๐Ÿ’ฉ A staggering 440,000 gallons of animal waste produced every single day
๐Ÿฆ  Increased risk of future zoonotic disease outbreaks
๐Ÿ’ A life of misery for more monkeys than the entire population of Bainbridge
๐Ÿž๏ธ Public land being handed over to a private corporation
๐Ÿ’ฐ Public funds being used for road and water infrastructure for this private corporation
๐Ÿ’ธ Zero taxes paid by this private corporation for well over a decade, while hardworking individuals and small businesses continue to shoulder their share

This is absolutely mind-boggling, and we need your help to ensure that this does not happen in our beloved neighboring town. Let's stand together and make our voices heard! โœŠ

Winnie update:

I apologize for the delay on an update on Winnie. The emergency vet came out Wednesday afternoon to see Winnie (this vet has never seen Winnie before). Her antibiotic was changed but the visit was inconclusive, at best. That morning, Winnie had labored breathing. She had gained 18 pounds since her last weigh-in (January), she was distended and still not Winnie. None of the other pigs had more than a 2 lb loss/gain since that weigh-in. Last evening, the labored breathing returned and it was obvious she's uncomfortable. Our regular vet was coming back on this morning (he was out of town Tuesday-Thursday), so I sent him a text last night to put a bug in his ear for this morning. Before I called him this morning, I weighed her again. Same scale, same method, and same place. She's gained almost 8 pounds in less than 48 hours! ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ Our regular vet will be out tomorrow morning to examine her. I've attached a few pics of Winnie that I just took for reference. She's not outside in the heat and humidity, she is inside and the central air is on. Please pray for my girl and send healing vibes her way..... AA's info is in comments if you feel led to help with Winnie's veterinary care or help out with our 42 piggos here at Amelia's Acres in general. Snout kisses on my heart-

It's been a long week or two here. Vet was out Saturday to draw labs on Winnie and it's not good. My heart is absolutely broken, I'm sick. She's been 'off' for a month or so, but eating/drinking. I asked my vet to come draw labs in a conversation while in Mississippi on transport. She's in chronic renal failure and has a severe liver infection. My regular vet is retiring (officially told me Friday) and I'm at 42 pigs. Winnie is my best girl, my rock. Mikey is upset (they bonded), she's inside right now. Contacting emergency vet this morning to get her seen, she's not responding to treatment. Not sure if this is straight up renal failure or Polycystic Kidney Disease (very common in PBP). She's not feeling well and is full of fluid. Cornell may be in our near future, not sure how I'll pull that off. Mom is leaving for 2 weeks in a week and a half. School starts in just over 3. Please pray for my Winnie. All of us. And Atticus, Mikey, and our 3 new intakes from last week. More on them later- I'm physically and mentally exhausted. Anyway, we could use help with expenses here at AA. Winnie's bill from Monday (labs and meds, vet charges to follow) were over $300. I added new quarantine areas for the 3 new intakes over the weekend bc it will take time & money before their house is ready (pic attached). They couldn't stay in the basement iso area indefinitely. Those still need wrapped up. It's vaccine and deworming time for the herd. The list is too long to put here... Our PayPal & Venmo is in the comments. Please, please pray for Winnie. I lost Elsie to this 2.5 yrs ago. My Win..... my heart. Prayers, financial or hands-on help are all needed and appreciated. Signed- a worried and exhausted rescue Momma. Thanks for reading this far. Love you all. Please share.
