Good Morning MJH-CIS Students and Parents!

Here is what we've got going on in Summer School:

Our students are receiving information on safety protocol during summer's high heat index. We are only in June and experiencing heat advisories, so please make sure you and your family stay safe when participating in outside activities.

Students will receive popsicles on Wednesday to beat the heat and a snack and drink with safety information on Thursday. Please be sure to bring back your signed CIS forms.

Your last day of school is right around the corner. Although, our last day is different, I will miss just the same. I am so proud of every single one of you and I love you so much.

Remember to keep shining your light, treat others how you would want to be treated, be an upstander and speak up for those who cannot, and remember to believe in yourself and encourage others.

There is only one YOU, so do not let others influence your thoughts, morals, or values.

Be in a position to grow and learn from mistakes made.

For my 8th graders, It has been SO incredibly hard to let you go. I know you are off to bigger and better things. You will also have a new site coordinator to support you. Mr. Dowell pours his heart and soul into assisting students, so you are in good hands.

I am always available through email and Google Classroom during the Summer. Be sure to look out for two events happening during Summer!

STEM Activity Camp at the High School
Big Fish Little Fish - Meeting your new CIS coordinator and High School Tour

I will make sure 8th graders have this information before the events take place.

Great Job on Testing MJH/CIS Students!

I thought I would share what academic support our students are working on today:

7 Ways to Prevent Summer Learning Loss

1. Make Time for Learning

All you need is 15-30 minutes of your day

-Use the Public Library
-Museums
-Create a Summer Book Club (maybe you can meet at the public library)

2. Improve Reading and Spelling Skills

-Use flash cards for new vocabulary you want to learn
-Choose words from a dictionary
-Create a game ( Write words on a beach ball and each friend spell and define the word)
-Read a new book
-Use board games, card games, computer games that promote reading and spelling

3. Develop Math Skills

Try new and challenging math problems

-Use IXL
-Computer/Smart Phone Math Games
-Workbook

4. Reading Comprehension

-Characters on a Roll
-IXL
